By midnight, I had enough of the heat. It was unbearable. By the time I got up from my chair, the back of my T-shirt was covered in sweat. The locals have even commented that this last month has been ridiculously humid. Thank God I have air conditioning in my room. Tomorrow I will spend the day in Olympos but then take a night bus to Goreme. Dino Vagabond.
Olympos, Turkey dinovagabond... water from a river meets the ocean salt. I spent 2 days there in a hammock with a book and listening to music, relaxing by the oceanside. I also reconnected with some friends from Fethiye, as they had done a 4 -day boat cruise route to Olympos where as I had chosen to do the distance overland by bus. Besides experiencing the camper lifestyle again, we also got to experience the Chimera. Chimera is situated 8kms from Olympos. Chimaera was another Lycian ...
Olympos, Turkey trg7... was little to do so we went further down the road to another guesthouse. (We had to use our headlamps, that's how dark it was and there are no street lights.) Music from Peter Gabriel's "Passion" was playing (has a middle eastern influence) and a huge bonfire was burning. We watched the staff who work there cook corn over the fire and visited with a Turkish man now living in Dusseldorf who was on vacation. It was a magical setting - and a magical evening.
