... Kings tombs carved into the cliff face walls before reaching turtle beach... Unfortunately we were too late in the season to see the females come up and lay their eggs or the hatchlings - but the beach was beautiful, clean white sand and ************e on it.. On the way back to the boat, I joined the tour group as we scouted around the pier looking for turtles that had been spotted earlier ...
Koycegiz, Turkish Aegean Coast, Turkey travellingjen... There have been quite a few places I have been and been grateful for the big and small things I am used to - whether it be a well prepared meal, a western style toilet or even just people able to speak English. I think the problem starts when an area actively TRIES to be a tourist haven.
In this case the local shops all stop trying to be pleasant shops of whatever culture or vibe they might normally choose, but instead try ...
... around. I got to go in first while Chris and Damien watched, but the guard was too alert for any subterfuge. It wasn't really a problem, as the baths were also a giant waste of money. I barely noticed the warm water, so busy was I dodging swirls of green goo and flaccid pink Germans. We wandered around the ancient ruins and in the early afternoon made our way to the Marmaris peninsula on the south coast.
Marmaris, Turkish Aegean Coast, Turkey davechrisdamo... sounded like an amazing trip... They were also all in their late 60s... The "under 26 and student specialists" strike again! It's not that I mind older travelers. It really isn't that at all. But to be perfectly honest, I'd rather be meeting people closer to my own age, they are generally easier to get along and become friends with, and if I'm traveling with people significantly older than me, they might as well be my parents, who after 3 months I really miss quite ...
Koycegiz, Turkish Aegean Coast, Turkey jimmyandkristen... she suggests the same retaurant as the woman at the reception.
The restaurant is well known in Bodrum and it's called BABADAN.
We enjoy lunch with Zinet and we say goodbye to each other before sailing back to Kos. - I had my cup of Turkish coffee turned, and she told me what she saw in the cup concerning my life.......many trips was one of them!!!
We are impressed by the Turkish people, the nice roads and nice buildings.

... out, and heard the little pup barking, that I heard and noticed him at all . . . . and then the bloated, rigor mortised corpse of his road-killed mother, over which he was keeping a sadly pathetic, yet dutiful vigilance. (Full picture at end of story)
There was more to come. But about that later.
I walked on out of town, perhaps a mile and a half to the turn-off. And shortly there after was able to hitch a ride part way to the ...
... renewal trip to the Greek island of Megisti (or in Turkish, Meis), off the coast of Kas, east of here, and which was related in the previous blog entry. Since I want to relate about the hike I took the following day, I'll make this entry look like I'm posting from Kas rather than Fethiye.
And, I didn't get to Kas by flying from Konya! I went from Konya to Ankara; then to Antalya, Olympos and Kas. Now there is no way--never mind an onerous way-- to document this journeying ...
Well, we finally have some free time to provide some updates. I'm hoping I can make these a bit faster as I know the layout of a Turkish keyboard now. Starting off with a laptop update - still no workey in Turkey. My initial suspicion of the dirty power supply was not correct. My next guess is the laptop AC adaptor says ýt requires 125V/7A whereas our adaptor will only provide up to 120V (make sense Ed?). As for what we have been ...
Dalyan, Turkish Aegean Coast, Turkey joncyn... about 3 to 4 hours. Some folks go over for visa renewals, some for duty-free shopping (whatever that is), some just for the sights; and most for a lunch. The Turkish boat crew take passports and do all the rest of it.
I myself immediately headed up to the castle for the view, and then a walk around the back of the town for the view from there as well; then I went down to the quayside for a lunch, after which just enough time for a Greek ...
