... stay the night in (they are so going to miss Walmart when we get back home !) so we settled on one in the town of Lincoln, right on the side of Route 66, or at least the road that was known as that, way back when... Walmart selection of meals for dinner and a loaf of yummy bread = dinner for $6 tonight for all of us. Neville did the honours of getting all the meals ready for us and we sat and watched Lemony Snicket whilst eating ...

We then realised this would be the last glimpse of the Missip that we'd been following for over a week. Now it's onto huge lakes as we go towards Chicago .

Today we caught up with an old friend I'd volunteered with in Melbourne 4 years ago. Gee it was neat to see her again.

We chatted a couple of hrs or so, then off towards the Windy City ...

Weathers improving ....slightly...stopped raining but still cold. Forecast for tomorrow into high seventies so that is a definite improvement. Progress is slow at the moment because every time we ask an American a question they just want to talk, and how they can talk!!! Nice though . Visited the war museum and the Route 66 museum at Pontiac, really interesting. The bike really uses lots of fuel, only did 100 miles and needed to refill it, it cost an outstanding $7 ...

Happy birthday to my love and my favorite clown, John! We celebrated after the show with wine, junk food, and four episodes of "Girls". A very lovely day which would have only been lovelier if we could have spent it with friends and family back home. But everyone sent John wonderful birthday greetings throughout the entire day, so I know we weren't far from people's thoughts. :)
