    ... im immediately panicked so I ask the girl in front of me the time, she checks her phone and yep, its 1:50pm. OMG Im going to miss my plane. So I go to front of customs tell the guy im gonna miss my plane so he lets me jump the line - but in India they have a weird system - even if you are transferring flights - they make you pick up your bags like you would if you were leaving and then literally go outside and upstairs to the "arrivals" ...

    No one told us it's cold in India!

    ... passed by lots of carrot plantations and then tea plantations. We actually went vertically up through some of the tea bushes which was really hard work! Can't imagine doing it with a basket of tea leaves on my head. We also saw some workers picking the tea, Rajiv said they would be women hand picking the leaves but actually it was men using a machine to pick the leaves! Sort of like shears with a square basket underneath!

    Train to Ooty!

    ... and the train does not always run due to mechanical and weather issues.. so we felt lucky to get on! We sat down next to a cool couple from Bondi, Aus who we chatted to the whole way up (5 hours!).

    Ooty was a little run down and with a moody home stay owner, we didn't want to hang around long! We met a lovely couple from Manchester who we chatted to over dinner. We also visited the botanical gardens which was relaxing.

    ... luggage, from a number of residences to the minivans and then the train station on time – 8pm for 10pm departure. Ravi had booked the entire first class carriage for us, so we had complete privacy, our own sleeping compartments, and a WESTERN toilet (plus 3 squats … for the boys we decided!). We were so relieved when we were spudded in, had chosen our bunks, and unpacked our backpacks - about 10 minutes before the train was due to leave. Until, we noticed the Pauls were ...

    ... for going to all that trouble to show me all those belts. Once they have opened twenty boxes and put all the belts on the counter - you feel like you should at least buy SOMETHING - even if you didn't really find exactly what you were looking for.

    This tactic, however, doesn't work on ME. In fact, it has the opposite effect - since I know what they are up to. I tell the sales people that there is no need to go to all that trouble to show me ...
