Back on board we had a great dinner then an entertainer with the electric violin played in the lounge. Just a lazy day of hoping for sun but settling for overcast and watching the world pass by. No real gems to speak of and the food was the same old cruise ship stuff. We dropped off the entertainer and then headed off down the Danube for our overnight cruise to Melk.

A shiny new purse (MW)
... and smelt the new potential addition to the back pocket. Looks good, feels good - lets do it, and a new wallet was tucked away - the old discarded at the first bin we passed.
Stuffed full of notes, coins, and receipts the new wallet seemed a little thicker than I had hoped it would be.
The next time I pulled it out I thought it was a little soft and possibly a touch feminine.

Passau (MW)
We finished our time in Germany with a few days in Passau, a little town near the Austrian border where three different coloured rivers meet. It’s a maze of narrow cobblestone streets, stone archways and tunnels beside the Danube. The trip to Passau from Munich is long but quick - first you rendezvous with a friend (Bernard) with a new BMW, he finds the autobahn and sets cruise control for 220 km/h and 40 minutes at this speed just about does it.

On to Austria.
... some very nice pieces. I watched him carving into some sort of flat crystal sheet. He may have had some guide lines but it looked like he was creating his pattern free hand. I was tempted to buy something but I resisted. Now I kind of wish I had given in.
We returned to the ship in plenty of time. Once we left the dock, we were sailing in Austria within 5 minutes, more or less. We passed quite a long stretch where there were few habitations visible. The hills rose ...
