Waking up, after a frustrating night of sleep, to see that Notre Dame beat Michigan 31-0, made it a great start to a fabulous day! We enjoyed our "substantial Tyrollean breakfast" of yogurt, fruit, breads, pastries, Nutella, meats and cheeses before heading out to mass. The church here in Casterotto is massive. It is like to the church we went to in Kruth, France in style but much much bigger and more crowded. We walked through the very unusual cemetery prior to mass: ...

Today was quite a day! We struggled getting Madelyn and Mason to bed last night (not until midnight!), so woke up groggy, stiff from the hard mattress and with a scratchy throat (me). But the most numerous vehicles are motorbikes. Everywhere we go we see signs welcoming bikers, advertising their ...

The road signs in this area are written in three languages - Italian, German and Ladin - a language consisting of a group of dialects (which some consider part of a unitary Rhaeto-Romance language) mainly spoken in the Dolomite Mountains in Northern Italy in South Tyrol, the Trentino and the province of Belluno. It is closely related to the ...

... to Verona a change of trains and then on to Milano. Our taxi driver was a bit late because of traffic. He decided to take us down the Roman road to avoid the main roads. This was small and in Aus is it would be one lane/way only. Not here! He gave us a lovely history lesson on the way. He once again raised the issue that these people feel like Southern Austrians rather than Italians. We made the station ...
