Phew... Going through US Customs was a bit trying... No searching but a lot of questions meant - I supposed - to catch us with something bad... Who knows. We did not loose any meal. We're in the middle of a fairground, with a weak WiFi but OK. The only analog TV channels are from Detroit but the Detroit area offers 22 digital channels, many
Longer day than expected but we grinded the flying condo to a halt. No problem other than a sticking lock on the propane door.

After saying our goodbyes to everyone at Cedarlane RV Park this morning, we're on the road to Michigan, in the home! Gray skies and cool winds can't dampen our spirits - we are SO looking forward to this next week's travels - when we leave Michigan, we'll head south on I-75 towards Florida, with a two ...

... things happened on your trip.
Me: Of course, you remember the homesick entries from Asia, so that is not true. It is funny how I tend to only remember the good parts of the trip and forget that I was lonely a lot and did have a few scary experiences, more than a few very awkward experiences, and one particular experience I regret. But the good parts and overall benefits far, far outweigh the bad.
Fan: Do you still keep in touch with people you met along the way?

Driving through the lovely springtime toward Ann Arbor, Michigan, I marvel at the amount of ground water in ponds and marshes, as I have all through the eastern part of the US. It's so different from the Pacific NW which every one says is so green, but, we do not have the amount of 'free' water that Tennessee, Virginia, Ohio and Michigan have shown me so far. (Of course that observation is leaving West Virginia's mountains aside as they are so steep there's no ...
Ann Arbor, Michigan, United States rvrladypatFlight arrived in DTW on time. I had lunch and cigarettes at the FOX Sports Bar. Spent the next two hours at the lounge before going to the gate. Unfortunately, our flight was running late. We left 45 minutes behind schedule.
... been a boy scout after all with my effort to "be prepared." I am feeling guilty about leaving Julie behind but I know she will be in great hands with my teacher friend, Deb. Julie is acting kind of strange though and I think she knows that something is up. By the time Deb is done giving her treats though she may never want to come home! I will try to update this blog when I can while we are away so that you can see what we are up to. Bye for now! :)
Ann Arbor, Michigan, United States brookincitaFriday - We arrived in Michigan in the late afternoon so we just unpacked and had dinner in town.

... restaurant near the campus of Wayne State University. His presence in Detroit on that day was entirely serendipity. He was in town for a poetry reading and concert at the university honoring the poets and music of Katrina-battered New Orleans, a town Sinclair loves and where he lived for 12 years. I asked where he lives now. "Amsterdam, for obvious reasons," he replied, with a laugh and a twinkle in his eye. But his voice softened and his eyes moistened ...
Ann Arbor, Michigan, United States johnsinclair... hole in my heart that's festered around this issue since 1992 is in the process of healing up at last, and I'm feeling much better about it already. That night I sat in the theatre and watched the Lennon movie again-I'd seen it at the International Documentary Film Festival in Amsterdam on November 27th and spoken with the audience afterward, but this was a whole different thing. This was Ann Arbor, where the **** actually went down, and there were definitely people ...
