After a long day of sightseeing in Cologne time to find the Cologne beer - which was not a problem at all - they have little pubs along the pedestrian area which runs about two blocks. Before dinner we had a farewell Captains Cocktail Party on board followed by a Farewell Captain's Dinner (a 5 star 5 course dinner to die for). ... glance and then walked down the embankment of the Rhein. In the words of 'Iamyourfather', "Impressive!" I thought Altstadt in Düsseldorf had a good vibe going, but it's virtually dead in comparison to Rhein side Cologne. If you want to experience a beach resort atmosphere but without the sea, then this is the place for you.
To round off the day, it was back to the Altstadt festival. As cheesy as it was, it was made all the better for each beer we'd had. Big fun!

During our dinner, we decided that we would spend the next day eating and drinking our way through as many of the Christmas markets in town as we could. Oh yeah, and get some shopping done in between. Waffles, potato latkes, gluhwein, wursts, sauerkraut, pretzels, gluhwein, wursts, apple strudel, potato latkes, gluhwein...you get the picture! I did say shopping, too. Right? As hard as it may be ...
