... not be able to climb out of the steep hills, we said what the hell and went walkabout in search of ferns and water falls. And the ranger was right, it was definitely worth the climb! And of course it started raining but that just made it more interesting, everything was wet and slippery, just like a rainforest should be. Loads of beautiful plants and trees, lagoons and pools and of course the falls. It's amazing to think this ...
Lorne, Victoria, Australia jhinsleyToday I did very little, being tired both from lack of sleep and tired of moving from place to place. The one thing I did do was go to the Otway Fly, which is a walkway suspended in the treetops of a rainforest. I didn't take any pictures this time, because let's face it, they were trees, and how good does any given tree really look on camera?? but it was a spectacular experience, climbing 45m into the trees. A mob of bikies arrived and took over the café as I finished ...
Lorne, Victoria, Australia wayfaring... have devised. This morning I discovered a set of sounds that I had been trying to recall. LAM VAM RAM YAM HAM OM (AUM) and HUNG (hueng). These sounds correspond to each of the major seven chakras starting from the bottom. I've decided to get over my shyness in talking about this stuff. I've been sensitive to the chakra system for years and years and at times I've shyed away from talking about it with other people because I didn't want to be percieved as a quack. If others were ...
Apollo Bay, Australia sammmiles... caves which have been formed by the sea. We start making our way back but are short on petrol which isn't the greatest place in which to break down, on a mountain. We go further than we'd liked to get some which means all the rest areas are behind us so we drive a short distance and park up on the side of the road next to a field where we hope a farmer doesn't come out and get us, going to sleep in the blackest night imaginable.
Torquay, Australia paul.wilson... most of the towns along the route left us wanting a little more. The sun did appear for us at the Twelve Apostles but the wind blew...great rocky sea scape...pretty seaside towns, yet often a town would consist of five to ten buildings and a 'locals' bar - not a great deal to do so we often continued driving. We drove through the Grampian Mountain range but were met with miserable weather so we saw very little. And the weather continued so we made an executive decision to ...
Lorne, Australia carlosb1978... sights of interest, of which the first one we embarked upon took us to a lookout from which we could see the site where the Loch Ard vessel, coming from England to Melbourne, and thus on the home straight, ran into ...
Lorne, Australia sianeth... It was a series of wooden huts - about 4 rooms grouped together in one big hut with 2 bathrooms in each one. It also had a big kitchen/common room. It's in the middle of a wooded area and we woke up to cockatoos and parrots chirping away - it was lovely. After making our own brekkie (finally decided to buy our own stuff - it's so much cheaper), we drove to Erskine Falls which were looking a bit sad due to the water shortage, and then ...

Torquay, Australia bafreux... I left the others at Geelong and hit the main highway over to St Kilda. I'd got places to go and people to see, this weekend was far from over... *(I hereby apologise to my parents for all the times I was a *****y moaning sour-faced teenager who was so so right while they were so so wrong and so so embarrassing all at the same time. Like the Wilsons and most parents, you deserve medals. All of you..)
The Great Ocean Road, Victoria, Australia scottwoz... in my back goes with the strain. For a horrible moment, I think the noise of the bolt moving has actually come from my back. Thankfully not. After over an hour of no luck, we decide to take our chances driving the car into town where we saw a forecourt which might have a mechanics attached. I reattach the only bolt I managed to loosen and then drive at Miss Daisy speeds into town. The forecourt turns out to be just that. They have no better tyre ...
