... of common areas that are outdoors. it's a big university, actually it's the biggest in terms of area in the Southern Hamisphere (Australian's loving saying that they have the tallest, biggest, smallest, etc, etc in the Southern Hemisphere...it really is quite comical when someone tells you that you're looking at the largest man-made Koala in the southern hemisphere...). It's named after the first governor of Victoria, La Trobe, who is a somewhat ...
Melbourne, Australia damioke... I wanted him to do, and remembering everything Clynton had taught me, reversed - goodness - in first go. Thank you Clynton. We got the van erected and Ted connected the services. As soon as that had been done, I drove him to Tallarook station, where he talked with his mates, and observed the passing trains for about 10 hours. This left me with the rest of the day to set up - storing the food, making the beds, stowing the clothes, getting the fridge going ...
Seymour, Australia newtripper... different from the people that loose fortunes in the pokies (electronic poker machines) and betting on fights. The fight that I wrote about in June between the aboriginal guy and the white guy from the bad part of Sydney catered to a different class than the races, but I would place a bet on the fact that everyone bet on both events even if they don't like to admit it. It seems that the whole convict history is slightly present in the culture; it is ...
Melbourne - Flemington, Australia lcridd... effort. According the lads in the house the following morning - the outfits were appreciated! Every single person in the house dressed up (except for Dan) and all friends who were invited also entered into the spirit of the occasion. The house was rammed full of costume-clad revellers, ranging from Shrek and Princess Fiona, the Pope, Robin Hood, Elvis, Cleopata and Pamella Anderson to cave-woman, pirate, Crocodile Dundee ...
Sydney, Australia nikki-donna... there, according to our flights, that we should head straight up to Sydney to find work. Now, there are several means of transport available to do this but the cheapest and easiest is bus. Unfortunately, at the thought of spending more time on a bus, we both groaned quite loudly!!Donna came up with the fantastic idea of hiring a car!!How grown up is that and not as ridiculously expensive as it would be at home either!!So, we set off to compare ...
Sydney, Australia nikki-donna... a ripper! The game itself couldn't have been any better. It was a nail biter as West Coast ran out winners by 1 point! I'd actually picked Sydney, but it didn't really matter, as it was such a good game. As one visitor left Jo and Feysal's it wasn't long till another bunch arrived. This time Feysal's Mum and Dad and his sister Zarah. It was good to see some familiar faces, especially when it involves one of Feysal's big barbie breakfasts, which was just what the doctor ...
Melbourne, Australia manchester... in all of Australia in the past 75 years by a sting ray. Brocky spun out in a car that he was driving, sober, and crashed into a tree. The memorial ceremonies have been all over the TV and in every paper daily. People are lining up outside the churches downtown to pay their respects, people are going to the zoo to make donations and everywhere people are talking about it even if they didn't care about the two guys before. They are trying ...
Melbourne, Australia lcridd... fantastic people (you!) that I have met via email. Without email I would be one lonely person. Today I was passed around on the phone at yet another family gathering. "Here talk to Laura she is in ______ and can't be here." (The phrase is a bit all too familiar.) I either need to pick a place to live so people can visit or invest in a personal plane and oil field to keep in touch with my web of friends and family on a more personal basis. Any ideas on how to accomplish either?
