Today was Thanksgiving! So excited for my first ever Thanksgiving experience! Happily lunch was planned for pretty late in the afternoon so we had plenty of time in the morning to make and extra pumpkin pie and watch the turkey roasting in the oven. Scott's Mum was preparing some of the food to transport to Grandma’s place and we all headed off around 2.30pm.

Spa ghetti and apple crumble for dinner, mmmm. I was going to make shortbread biscuits but had to improvise when there wasn't a rolling-pin. It all turned out fine in the end, and quite delicious.
... really pretty. On the way back round the lake we stopped for ice cream. I had Butter Pecan (flavour I’ve not tried before), it was yummy but huge and it defeated me. I don’t think I’ve ever actually wasted ice cream before, it was heartbreaking.
Watched 28 Days Later, so now the British education extends to tea, custard and films!
... a 4 hour drive compared to our 45 mins.
Had a fun evening, went out for dinner and ended up having a steak in Ruby Tuesdays, where I also had my first alcoholic drink in the USA. I got ID’d! Picked up some beers on the way back and spent the rest of the night working through them. Good fun all round!
... games. It rained pretty heavily all day so staying in seemed like a good plan. I cooked my (now) world famous macaroni cheese for dinner and we watched DVD’s.
Also arranged for one of the guys to come up and have some beers with us this weekend and the weekend after Thanksgiving too. Hopefully you guys will enjoy the benefit of my rainy day with the first few updates.
... City with me sometime next week but sadly I don't think it’s going to happen. Had burgers for dinner (at Five Guys, Burgers and Fries) and then popped into Barnes and Noble to use their free wi-fi, still no internet at home till tomorrow. Was pretty late when we left so had a snack when we got in and a little more TV. It’s such a relief to have real tea, wasn’t sure how I was going to cope!
Elmira, New York, United States amyusa09We'd agreed on a slow start this week while I’m recovering from such a long trip so had a nice cooked breakfast and then headed out to the supermarket to pick up some food and use the free wi-fi (internet won’t get hooked up till Thursday). I was most amused to find that in the foreign food aisle they had an Irish ...
Elmira, New York, United States amyusa09... a nice goth boy so I felt right at home. Couple of films and a little sleep on the plane, and 8 hours later I was arriving in New York, Newark airport. How exciting! My first panicky moment was that they'd failed to give me the correct customs form on the flight and when I got the right one it was all in Spanish! Managed to pick up an English version and then spent my first ...
Elmira, New York, United States amyusa09Just a short note, for work I travelled to Elmira Ny in Oct 2009. It was a fun week, Elmira is a small city on the Southern Tier of NY.
It is quite a pleasant drive from Toronto to Elmira. From Toronto down to Niagara and across the Lewiston Bridge. There is often a lne up, but Monday morning when I got there, there was nary a car on the bridge. Customs looked bored and passed me through. From there down through Buffalo and ...
... It was nice catching up with Rick and his girlfriend Kelly, you could tell they were regulars here as they greeted just about everyone that walked through the door. (Rick for Mayor) Before you knew it, it was getting late. Lyn and I hit the road and once again headed on 79 back towards Watkins Glen. A strong stormed had passed earlier and the road was covered in frogs!! We arrived at the ...
