Historical Traveler Reviews Waterstone Resort & Marina Boca Raton - A DoubleTree By Hilton Hotel

      Horrible construaction was deafening

      from

First, this hotel is no longer a Radisson. The hotel itself was fine - nice, clean rooms, nice pool and view. Balconies and ocean view in each room. BUT there is extremely LOUD construction on a bridge right outside the hotel all day long. I think it is going on through July. It was terrible - you could not speak to each other at breakfast or lunch (restaurant is open air) or at the pool. It gave me a headache. Certainly not a relaxing atmosphere. We were not informed of this at check-in. Some notice and a free meal or something to compensate would have been nice. Do NOT stay here until the construction is past. The noise is really that bad.

      First time in Boca

      from

We stayed from 4/8 thru 4/11. Great location, a very , very nice neighborhood , reminded us of Wailea , Maui. The suite was fantastic . Huge , a fantastic view , and spotless. A five minute walk to the beach. One mile away from downtown , and endless places to eat , but still quiet and next to the ocean.Negatives were a very small and sometimes overcrowded pool. Parking is very tight, and the valet is sometimes very busy , but you just slow done and relax. Go for a suite instead of the standard room.Would stay there again.

View was very nice, food was below average

      from

I visited this hotel this weekend. The view was excelent. We had a room on the 4th floor overlooking the water.(Room 414) The draw bridge was a great sight. We have no complaints over the noise from the bridge and the lift warnings as we could not hear them when the door was shut. The staff was pleasant but the valet systems didn't quite work. They brought the wrong car to us twice and they weren't very excited about helping us although there was someone always there to open the door for us.

We had to dine a lot at the resturant there quite a bit. Although the site was very nice, the staff was some what not interested in serving us and the food was awful. I couldn't ever eat mine. The service was slow and they were slow getting the check to you.

The room was pretty clean but in an average way. There wasn't anything that was fab about this hotel and I probably won't go back.

Please email if you want to see a couple photos. I wasn't able to upload here.

      Not Impressed

      from

I was not impressed. In fact I moved out after only a day. Yes you see a bridge, but it sounds like a highway as cars whiz by all day and night long. Trust me, you're not sitting in a lounge chair by the beach - its a highway.

But what really ticked me was that the pool is behind the building and the way its positioned, by 1 PM in the afternoon, you get no sun! I'm from Canada. I want lots of sun in Florida not a shadow in the early afternoon.

The actual rooms were very mediocre for the price.

I felt I had no value at all.

      Can you say drawbridge horn?

      from

A nice, all-suite hotel with excellent views of the intercoastal and ocean from the balcony. BUT, the hotel is located right next to a drawbridge, and every time a boat goes through, a very loud horn blows to raise the bridge. This happens quite frequently from 6 am to midnight. We always take good earplugs on our hotel stays, so we had no problem sleeping, but the noise was irritating enough that we checked out after the first day and moved to a quieter (and cheaper) location. At these prices, you really should be able to expect amenities such as a lobby that's bigger than your hotel room, and occaisional peace and quite. I'm sure it's not a problem on the other side of the hotel, but if you step out on your balcony and it looks like you are right on top of the bridge, ask to move to another room immediately.

      Great place to stay

      from

      Very nice hotel,very cool surroundings...

Stay here again and again and again....

      from

This review is a testament to the staff and atmosphere at the Bridge Resort. Our third visit to this hotel almost didn't happen this year. I went on-line to book a room as usual except they were booked for our travel dates! A call to the Radisson reservation line confirmed it - we had to look somewhere else for a place to stay. We searched and searched - read coments here on Tripadvisor about other hotels but we weren't really ready to give up on "our" place. So I called back and spoke to a nice guy who managed to wrangle a room for us at $189 a night. Well....it was more than we hoped to pay and didn't include breakfast (all our stays in the past have included it)....but it is "our" place so we booked it. After searching some more for other hotels at lower rates, my husband convinced me to call the hotel itself and speak with their in-house reservation desk. I did and I got the chance to speak with Heather. It was our lucky day! Or maybe it wasn't luck at all - during every stay at this hotel we've encountered superior staff who are always eager to help. Heather listened to my story and was quick to find a room for us at $119 a night that INCLUDED breakfast!

And she did it all with a smile - it made our vacation! That's what I have to say about the reservation process - let me say a bit about the hotel. We've always stayed on the ocean-view side, third floor. The room is comfortable and the balcony has enough room for the two of us to enjoy our breakfast out there. One contributor to this site mentioned that the rooms were dingy and that it ocean side was noisy but we don't agree. The rooms are moderatly decorated and clean - not dingy. Yes, you can hear the drawbridge as it goes up and down - good thing because we haven't tired of running to the balcony door to see it work! The Watercolors restaurant downstairs is next to the water and it's pure luxury to sit there during breakfast and watch the tropical fish swim below. We haven't tried out the pools, choosing instead to walk the short distance (through the parking lot, across the street and through a little park) to the quiet, barely inhabited beach. The concierge is great and the gift shop is cute. Taxis arrive on time and the hotel is always air-conditioned just right! We love this place and will stay here every chance we get!

OK but not worth the money

      from

The hotel is OK. It used to be very classy some years ago but is showing signs of aging. Ask for a renovated room with a king bed because the unrenovated rooms have tiny closet bathrooms and are a bit dingy. The double beds sink in. The staff is generally friendly but we happened to encounter the one unfriendly lady that handled our complaints with a frown and a smirk. Complaints included not giving us a king size room because of "other guests extending their stay" and not agreeing to move us when one came available without a big fight (including calling the radisson national complaint line). Other complaints: old plumbing in some rooms - my father's flooded one night, the bridge side is noisy because of the bridge and the bar. The pool is tiny, the beach is a hassle to get to (you have to walk over the bridge, back under through an unmarked gate and through the boca resort to find a gray sand beach). The beach is much nicer in deerfield just 5 minutes drive down the road but with annoying metered parking. The air conditioners won't turn all the way off and make a very loud noise. We put our bedspread over it which helped. The room smelled mildly of carpet cleaner. The toilets are very low and easily clogged. The bathtubs are small and you wouldn't likely want to take a bath in them.

A few positive points: Good view, clean, nice balcony. King beds are comfortable and renovated rooms are nice. The restaurant has good breakfast an the bar is lively. The vallet is cool and will loan you sand toys and boogie boards for free. Conclusion: not worth the ~$200.

My advice: book something in deerfield on the nice beach for this price or less.

      Great View at any price

      from

The room was somewhat small but had a decent balcony, and was clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpfull. We were on the oceanside on the top (5th) floor.Magificent views of the Intercoastal and Atlantic. The only significant downside was the location of the pool. You must walk through the Bar to get to it.

Good value even in high season.

      Great stay

      from

Nice, convenient and reasonably priced hotel.

      Destination arrival

I hit the road at 7:30 this morning and arrived at Boca Raton at about 4:30 p.m. I was surprised to see the Town limit sign as I thought I still had a long ways to go to pass Palm Beach. Then I saw a sign for the Boca Raton Mall so I took the exit to try to figure out where to go in town relative to the interstate. It seems that although I looked the directions up at home, I did ...

Whilst I was chatting to Mum Jake went down to the beach with some of the group to play American Football on the beach. His team won the game and he had a good time so that was nice to hear :) We had about 40 minutes to get ready for dinner tonight which we didn't really need as we had both had showers this morning so we just relaxed until 5:45pm when we had to meet in ...

We stopped off in Boca Raton and decided this would be our home for the night. Hotwire had a good deal for us and landed us in a nice hotel next to some nice shops and restaurants.

The A's are on again tonight (ALDS game #2). We got to watch the first part at dinner (Brewzzi's Restaurant/Brewery) and finished watching in our cozy hotel room. I ...

... scale; yes a digital scale. Now I ask you, what cruel person would put a digital scale on a cruise ship with 24-hour food supply? I covered the scale with a hand towel and refuse to look down when I’m in the restroom. Remember, I’m on vacation, not a health farm rehab.

Our 1630 departure was delayed for 45 minutes because a passenger was removed from the ship for medical reasons…that was terrible, but we pray that person ...

No notorious Miami weather delayed the flight this time, but I had to wait 45 minutes for my pre-arranged shuttle to Fort Lauderdale, where my hotel had been arranged. SuperShuttle is just a name and in no way reflects the quality of the vehicle which transported me and another couple the 60 km or so ...
