The Day Before Departure

So it may be sappy to have a journal entry the day BEFORE our road trip starts, but seriously...our cats are going through some sort of withdrawal. They can sense that we are leaving for 5 weeks.

We made sure that good people will be taking care of them, and we laid down some ground rules for Rocky and Oliver (the cats):

1) No more than 5 lbs of ...

Exactly how many crayola colors are there?

... how long our kids are taking with the equipment and try to move them along to a new area, but the kids enjoyed this section nonetheless.

The last section consisted of: puppet-making, sponge painting, finger painting, gluing, and graffiti projects. The gluing projects, such as the puppet and catepillar were a little different from what we would do at home because they provided the children with boxes of interesting designed and textured paper. The ...

Strawberry Festival

we took the kids to the Strawberry Harvest Festival at Alstede Farms in Chester, NJ.

Hangin' Out w/ Gramps

Gramps lives in a cute little house on Culver Lake in NJ ~ cute as a button, both he and the place. I love the water & the town & the company, & it's one of the most comfortable places I've been. I'm looking forward to the next time we visit, when Gramps will make me an Old Fashioned in the evening while we sit overlooking the moon reflecting on the lake in the eve, and eggs over easy just the way I like em in the morn.

Preparation

One more day. I'm so excited! We finished packing today and somehow manage to fit the whole shopping cart of extra supplies. Good thing cotton balls are light and they make excellent packing material. Two 50 lbs bags each. That's 20 bags total or 2000 lbs! wow.

Back to the airport

I gave about an hour and a half before I have to take the car back to Becca's. She and little "Raisin" are going to drop me off at the airport. Then back onto that horrible bus with the worlds most annoying bus driver (chances are that it will be the same guy - he went out of his way to ...

Reunion

The last couple of days have been fun. Friday we went to Laura's to see her daughter - what a cute little girl. Then I bought new sunglasses and flip flops - because you can never have too many pairs of flip flops. Then we went to Wegmans. Keep in mind that I haven't been in a grocery store for over a year. So many choices. Too bad we were on a time crunch and shopping with Vicki is an ...

Today!

... to do some grocery shopping. Grabbed a hand basket thinking I'd just pick-up a few things. Of course the baskets overflowing by the time I'm done. Why is it always so? Also did some reading. Tried doing stuff on the internet but the connection kept on cutting out so I gave up. I'll be moving south tomorrow. Just a couple of hours driving. Guess that's all for today!

Exploring the Poconos!

... meeting people. I do miss my kids (I have to say that-just kidding kids) and should be around for them (it's my step-daughter's 21st birthday today-Happy Birthday Rhéline!), but...travelling is addictive. The more you see, the more you want to see. I read one of the other travel blogs on this website. Someone who travelled the world, over a year. A month after their return they wrote their epilogue ...

Poconos

My First Assignment was in East Stroudsburg, PA. I stayed several months here and was able to enjoy winter, spring and summer. A few years later, I did see the beautiful fall foliage. While here, I did a lot of exploring, hiking and a couple of trips into NYC and one to Philadelphia. I loved visiting Bushkill Falls, one of my favorite places to get away. I also went to the Crayola Factory in Easton, PA.
