... lunch we stopped at a cafe and had gozleme (pron. gertzlemee) and apple tea. Gozleme are a Turkish pancake made from a flour/water/salt/oil dough and rolled out thinly. ... as there are no others around. Above the cliffs is the ancient city of Hieropolis (Holy City), a Graeco-Roman and later Byzantine city. Much of it is in pieces scattered over the land due to earthquake damage but there are a couple of jewels there. One is the beautifully formed and resorted amphitheatre. This morning we walked down to the Port area with stunning views over the water to snow capped mountains from the Taurus range.

Lots of locals and tourists around as it was a lovely sunny day. Heaps of cafés and restaurants. We walked around the water for a while and sat in the sun.

Antalya is a lovely city - very laid back and a nice vibe about it. The sun helps!

... The merchants in the middle east are very advanced in these areas, it goes way beyond my understanding. Usually wheat and barley is traded in this area there are not many exotic fruits, unless it is coming from the incoming merchants and traders. There are significant Roman ruins here dating from about 100AD. The geographcal landscape is very unusual for a beach town which is sandwiched between very rocky hills. A creek fed by freshwater springs runs out to the beach. The really unusual thing is that to get to the beach you have to go through the ruins and pay 5 lire each time. Quite strange. I gather you ...
