... the tour managed to give us two extra rooms. Our hotel is beautiful. The kids can’t get over their rooms. I ended up with my own and so did Ms. Winter. We have giant king size beds... I feel like royalty.. I just can’t figure out how to shut off my A/C so it is an icebox in here. My fingers are like frozen prunes (still pruney from the pool). They enjoyed the world’s loudest game of Marco Polo and making their hair look like George ...

... and it would only cost $1 for the bus fare. So off we went.Georgetown was lovely. Not quite the shopping centre we thought it would be. We walked up and down the streets and had stayed there such a long time that it was time for dinner. We ate in a French restaurant. I had an American Beer - brewed in Boston.

We caught a different bus home (The Circular) and it brought us all the way back to Union Station which was only about 4 ...

In the evening we went for a walk toward the Potomac river and Pentagon area. At 9:30 pm The President attended a September 11th Observance Ceremony at The Pentagon Memorial. The Pentagon was further than walking distance so we spent time viewing the Thomas Jefferson Memorial, which was beautifully lit at night.

... in scaffolding (weirdly it seems like everywhere we've been in America there has been a lot of construction going on, just a random observation!)   After this we went to see the White House! You can't actually get very close to it, obviously, but also because of all the trees etc there is only a small portion of the fencing where you can stand and see the front of it which was where we fought our way to get the classic tourist picture!   Next ...
