    Only a few weeks after my previous holiday we were all treated to another opportunity for a big break: this week was 'Golden Week'. During this set of consecutive national holidays, the company competely closed down for three days. Great! However... So do most other companies in Japan.     ... roof bar, then headed out for a night on the town. Dogenzaka (aka Love Hotel Hill) in Shibuya was our pick, where we went to the Harlem nightclub and had a great time with all the cool Japanese kids. In general we found that the locals are pretty shy until around 1.30 am, at which point they exploded into life on the d-floor. A good time was had before we retreated to our hotel.

    ... with a 12 hour flight to San Francisco, and the same again for a 31/2 hour flight to Vancouver. He tried sleeping but asked me to wake him up for the two amazing meals AirNZ served during the flight.     After getting our bags, we ask the hotel people how to get to the airport and he indicated us that we could go to Ueno then take the Skyliner. He was quite sure that our JR pass would work... so we trusted him and went to Ueno. And wrong... JR pass do not work there. So we had to rush back to Tokyo station to take the Narita express.
