... times along with his mates. On the way home an Asian girl threw up on the boat which was delightful for the journey back! We went for dinner at our place for red curry with the others then ha changs in the pool under the stars which was amazing. Bloody good day ...

... the Ko Lanta coast to a more secluded beach and we hoped to a bungalow with less scary arachnids (6). Our second location on Ko Lanta, Klong nin beach, proved to be an idyllic setting. Located farther from what little crowds there are on the island, fantastic food options and a short motorbike ride to the jungled southern end of the island, where the monkeys take over and apparently cobra sightings are not that rare. We saw lots of monkeys but gratefully ...

... is made up of a small number of raised bamboo cottages in a pretty coconut tree grove. There are lights and lanterns at night and they are very sweet and come and put down the mosquito net, spray the room and light mosquito coils every night. The shower is divine compared to most we've had and the bed pretty comfy.

Our first afternoon we went to a recommended restaurant very close to Cocotero. It was nice but not exceptional and the price was quite a bit higher ...

... this was where we were stopping for lunch. Lunch was served on a mat and was lovely. We were enjoying our meal when we heard rustling and our guide said Lucy's coming; not sure what he meant, we carried on eating. The next thing we know, a monitor lizard has joined us for lunch! We threw her some chicken trying to coax her closer to us; apparently she got too close as our guide shooed her away by throwing stones at her then making loud banging noises ...

... we need, a fridge, air con, a big bed and hot shower. Outside there is a swimming pool as well.

We relax for the afternoon before popping back down to Pinky's restaurant. There are no western foods on offer here (except for breakfast where you can have omelette or scrambled eggs), but I have a nice beef, garlic and pepper dish. Kirsty isn't as impressed by her sweet and sour chicken unfortunately, but at 2 a main meal you can't ...
