We had been keeping a careful watch on the forecast for the Gornergrat. Other than the Jungfraujoch, the views from the Gornergrat are an absolute "must see". At 3100m, it is surrounded by 29 peaks all above 4000m and includes Switzerland's highest mountain, the Monte Rosa (4634m) and fifth highest but most famous, the Matterhorn (4478m). Being inside a ...

The view on the way to the top was breath-taking with huge snow-capped mountains and quaint villages surrounding every window. The train stopped twice as it went up at viewing platforms where it became clear that everything was slowly turning totally white. When we finally arrived at the top, it was minus 4 ...

On this Good Friday, to our dismay, many of the shops in Lauterbrunnen were closed for the holiday. However, we had big plans regardless - we were going to head high up in the Alps. We boarded a train at Lauterbrunnen station which took us up to Kleine Scheidegg where we switched trains and continued on up the mountain. Shortly after departing from Kleine Scheidegg the train entered a ...
