    ... to Oktoberfest, which is called Goiboden festival, and celebrates agricultural abundance. Our guide reminded described the festivities to us, which sound just like the Munich Oktoberfest.     ... to store and transport beer, refrigeration for houses, and fresh water. They were cool and moist, and I’m glad we had a guide with us or we most definitely would have got lost! The poor guide, even in Czech, you could tell she was nervous, and we learned at the end of the tour that it had been her very first tour being the guide on her own!

    ... On the subject of signs, it's very pleasing to see very few traffic or other signs around, no sign clutter!! There's a lot to like about this part of Germany, the people are helpful, friendly, courteous to cyclists and go quietly about their work. The only downside I can see is their smoking habits, everyone smokes! There are cigarette vending machines in hotels, in the streets and even the side of the road, a pack of twenty costs ...

    It was a good day for driving. It was quiet on the road so we made good time and drove further then we expected to. We left Utrecht at 1 pm and we arrived in Hengersberg at 7.30 pm. We initially wanted a hotel in Metten, but all the hotels in that small town were full. The hotel we ended up in was very nice, clean and spacious.
