... about Charles Dickens. When she finished, Rabea and I did a little more Christmas shopping (this was a really popular activity), and then went to the pool for another swim. This was reassuring...I already felt better than I had the first time. I got through four sets of 500's in about 35 minutes so that was good. After a quick swim, we raced off on our bikes to meet up with Rebekka and her boyfriend for dinner at an Indian restaurant. The meal ...
Berlin, Germany emizner... a little unusual though is the 500 sqm Ice World ramp. A more than 20 meter high and 50 meter long ramp was built right on the Potsdamer Platz Station, and iced over. People can then hire four "rides" in a tire down the iced ramp for about EUR 1.50. Great fun. Shot a short video of one of the rides.
... who had prepared a simple afternoon tea consisting of 2 massive cheesecakes, biscuits, chocolates and slices. Note my subtle sarcastic wit, but man it was Yummo! It was good for Nathan to be able to play with the kids, who also took him to feed the farm animals. His collection of toys is mounting up and we'll seriously need to send some things home or we'll need to hire a courier.
Prior to this we had left ...
... putting the final touches on my curriculum plan it is time to enjoy the last weekend of summer. Fortunately Julia is around and we hang out, speaking lots of German. I have tried to really commit myself to learning the language this year. Julia and I are speaking mostly German with each other, having German movie nights, and the results are tangible. I’m getting a lot better at speaking and communicating. While the grammar is a ...
Leipzig, Saxony, Germany robconr... of Berlin, Friedrich- something. The inside is beautiful and is dimly lit and filled with white marble statues. As the evening gets cold and dark (the sun sets at about 3:50 in Berlin this time of year) I head back to the Hostel to try to get warm and meet up with Liz.
We hang out a bit in the hostel chatting with other people and storing up warmth for the night! After a little while we head out to live the big city some more. After strolling ...
Let´s going ahead and start off with just how much of a schmuck I am and how lucky I was. My flight was changed a few months back so when I got the email I wrote down in all my planners that it left at 3:05. I was pulling up to the airport at 1:55 when I looked down at my itinerary and saw 2:05 in big bold letters. OH ****! I knew right away I was going to miss my flight to Chicago and miss my ...
Bayreuth, Germany jlewku... we could amuse ourselves without any problems. We were living in Kreuzberg which is the gay quarter of Berlin. Just down the road from our hotel we had 4 gay bars and a jazz club. It wasn't too bad at all. Also across the road there was a cafe/bar that used to be a chocolate factory. They had the best hot chocolates!
I still have not eaten any chocolate for the last 2 and a half weeks however I must confess that I have had a hot ...
After a long day of walking around Berlin, the next day Wolfgang wanted us to go to Zollbrücke with him and Ingrid. Zollbrücke, literally toll bridge, is a town not too far from Frankfurt on the Oder, not to be confused with Frankfurt on Main. The Oder is a river which is on the German/Poland boarder. It's hard to miss, but somehow we got lost and spent about an hour looking for the river ...
