(Although the views were good, I still think you can skip the park, if you have a tight schedule. Some visitors say it is better to take a tour boat, if you ask for better sceneries.) I worked with Shun Sawada in 1995 teaching English at Niitsu High School and had the pleasure of meeting his lovely wife, Suzuyo, many times as she taught me Ikebana, Japanese flower arranging. Such a beautiful home, delicious food and stunning Japanese garden and bonsai. A wonderful visit to Yahiko mountain and shrine and the seaside. A trip into Niigata city to Kobari Beach, Sea of Japan. Such kind ...

... a big shop full of the stuff we love. An hour later and much less yens in our wallets we headed across the road to the post office, Giulietta mailed some of her new acquisitions home (which will take 2 months to arrive by ship), I sent some postcards and Morgan airmailed a 2.5kg box of goodies for around $45. Now I made this whole procedure sound easy, don't get me wrong a lot of sweat and tears went into mailing our goods and if it wasn't for the very patient Nippon ...
