    ... The museum was informative with a few interesting videos (only in Japanese) and stuffed specimens. Then we were able to see a number of live tokis in the cages. There were a few binoculars placed in the observation room, but they seemed useless. My mam didn't say anything about them, but maybe she couldn't see the birds very well...

    After that, we didn't have any plan again, but Mt. Donden was close and looked nice. So we drove up to the mountain lodge Donden ...

    ... and continue towards Aizu-Wakamatsu,with it's samurai past, tomorrow morning. One of the guides suggested a slower train line for one part of the journey, as this part is operated by an old fashioned steam train and as we still have plenty of time, this is probably what we'll do.

    We found a great hotel, Toyoko Inn, part of the chain with the same name, next to the train station and walked to the hotel entrance, took the lift up to the 4th floor and made the reservation ...
