... we arrived at the Boardwalk Bar which is part of the Bali Gardens Beach Resort- very nice. We got ourselves two very comfortable armchairs under a large shady tree looking right out onto the beach. It felt like paradise – especially when two icy cold Bintangs were delivered! We had some tapas for lunch and another couple of beers and just really enjoyed relaxing.

Eventually we decided to head back to the Villa so we went through to the front ...

The massage was amazing and was followed by a turmeric/Javanese lulur scrub which was massaged in then yogurt applied (yes, it felt very gooey), this was then showered off and then we were immersed in an exotic flower bath, we then had a great pedicure. The Balinese girls were excellent and made it an enjoyable experience and so so cheap. I have also had another massage and facial so have made the most of the pampering ...

... the pose because of the pace. 90 mins was a bit of a struggle. All in all I enjoyed the challenge but not sure Ruth did. Wandered back up to Jalan Seminayk and a quiet dinner in a small warung. Ruth said the coffee was OK..just Day three we went walking planning to pick up some stuff we ordered and do some more shopping. Had some degree of tension as we found our way back, albiet with some difficulty to Jl Padma to find Joe. We went via the ...

A day in the rice paddies

... of you worried about bugs in the rice-paddy water, we did take the precaution of rinsing everything in coconut water... Each coconut held a lot! More wandering around lost in paddy fields, short breaks spent watching the locals husk rice (if I'm ever forced to forage for my own rice I now know how to do it) both manually and by machine... Hot looking work. Finally we came to a small family compound where one of the men from one of ...
