... about Davidsons plum liqueur was not as fab as we were told, but we couldn’t resist taking a bottle of the coffee and lime liqueurs home with us.

The next day of sightseeing was spent firstly at the Mareeba Wetlands Centre, however by the time the place opened at 9am there was not much bird life happening. We did see an emu and her four little chicks but there was not much else to stick around for.

We passed ...
Mareeba, Queensland, Australia serenitynow... wildly underwater. They didn’t. So annoying but it was also nice to see their envious faces as we surfaced a time later and I was finally able to spill the beans!
However a friend I made on the boat that day - Tom saw 2 turtles which he liked to rub in my face when I mentioned the shark and then to my utter disgust saw a shark on his second dive of the afternoon while the turtles continued to keep a wide berth of me. Other than the shark saw huge rays ...
Cairns, Queensland, Australia ciaradoonerush... pools and lakes. The water was absolutely freezing... it took us quite a while to get in the water, but when we did it was beautiful. There was a rock slide we could slide down in to the water ...it was so much fun!!!!!

Today 31/8/09 We have been to the Great Barrier Reef (the largest living organism in the world and the largest living thing you can see from space). It was ...
Cairns, Queensland, Australia missokeeffeHi everybody!

It's definitely time for an update! Well, we made a mistake on our last update. We thought we were moving to Cairns this coming weekend, but KPMG actually sent us up here last weekend! So, we are now in northern Queensland, living in a place called Trinity Beach. It is a suburb of Cairns, and is set on a beautiful, sandy beach. We'll be living here for approximately 5 weeks (at which poing we'll return to Wollongong for another 6 weeks), while Brian works at ...
Trinity Beach, Queensland, Australia jillsutherland... were being pushed into this wet suit, then we got to my boobs, I just laughed & said not a chance!! once again he said it would fit so there I am pushing my boobs together with the zip going redder by the minute while he is pushing the zip up. All dignity gone!!!! So you can imagine I looked so attractive!!
The dive was good & I saw a shark which was amazing, the fishes were saw were huge, glad I decided to do it.

This is ...
Cairns, Queensland, Australia maidykm... time. Maybe it would have been different if I had had more time to spend in one place. I could have worked for 6 months maybe, then still had plenty of time to do the travelling I wanted. Ah well, the grass is always greener on the other side, right? I don't think I would have wanted to stay that long anyway. It's time to go see what Cairns has to offer, and cross my fingers for the diving on the day I already booked! :-)
Cairns, Queensland, Australia cmukon... local boy had been grabbed and killed my a croc. i hadn't mentioned the child in Darwin who had also disappeared nor the others...... we went on a croc express tour which entailed trawling along the banks of the river seeking out crocs. our guide here - Robbo - welcomed us with a broad yorkshire accent and huge grin.. i spent the next hour wanting to make love to him there and then... he was lovely, ignored the crocs and just smiled at him a lot. ellie became class suck up ...
Cairns, Queensland, Australia lincolnlady... the fish was cut up by an amateur chef and put out as crude sashimi during dinner, but well after everyone had eaten. Most of the fish that was served up went uneaten. Now, this may have been but one tuna, but that is the same argument that leads to piles of trash found in developing country cities and in the oceans. And this was Australia. Our New Friends and Memorable Dive Sites As I have previously mentioned in the Similan Islands entry, part of the joy of life on a ...
Cairns, Queensland, Australia chiapoe... was a random wild turkey wandering about. That is until we left - then we were lucky enough to spot a male Cassaway and some chicks in the bush. Were told this is quite a rare experience as they are endanged. The rainforest itself was beautiful and so humid. We wandered off ourselves looking up at all the bright green palms and alien looking vines and plants. Next, we took a crocodile cruise along the Daintree river. This sounds far more exciting than it is ...
Cairns, Australia andyandkirstine... on landing while the Federal Police boarded and detained a guy (we think for abusing the cabin crew) - added some excitement!! Some of the passengers started singing "Bad Boy, Bad Boy, Wotcha going to do when they come for you". Picked up the car with no hitches from an English guy from Bolton and headed to Trinity Beach - would have been 20 minutes if Steve hadn't taken a detour in the dark up a windy mountain road with no turning places.
