So think planes, trains, and automobiles! Fast train to Rome, flight to Frankfurt, flight to Vilnius (Lithuania) and then 3 hour drive to Klaipeda, executive committee meeting, dinner with Carole and the day ended! Not much in terms of fun for the next three days. I am busy with board meetings and Carole is hanging out with students and believe it or not a residence director who grew up in the house next door to us in San Dimas! ... about half way down just to see the Russian border post. There is a small Russian state, Kaliningrad, surrounded by Lithuania and Poland further south. Didn't know about this till we were looking at a map of the region. The spit is narrow and scenic. We had lunch in a lovely little town called Nida. ... very appreciative of Michael's patience and understanding of subtle knacks families do. He really got it, and kept me in touch too. Truly supportive and sometimes brutally honest through my *****y moments. Next time we come in the summer, stay in a hotel, or cabin in Palanga, keep our fitness routine, get American coffee in the mornings, and serve our own food. Meanwhile, spend as much time with the family till everybody is happy and nice. Off to the next adventure... ...

We are back to warm weather here. It is expected to be 75 degrees with blue skies. Even our local tour guide, Audra, was pleasantly surprised. The locals label Indian Summer as "Womens' Summer" here in Lithuania. She told us Lithuania also suffers from lack of truly sunny days; they expect about 150 per year.

Lithuania only has about 3 million people and Vilnius is the capital. It is bordered by Latvia, Poland, Belarus and Kalinngrad ...

... are responding to my questions. There is a group camped near me speaking Spanish but this is the only foreign tongue I will hear. It's kind of strange but really nice. Everyone here speaks English really well and they get super excited when I say something in English- they love to practice on me.

This festival is definitely geared towards Lithuanians with Rudimental the first nights headliner and then all of the rest of the acts are Lithuanian and I have never heard ...
