Started our CR vacation with three nights here and what an introduction! The grounds were beautiful and the units laid out very nicely. The rooms were spotless and spacious and the covered porch area kept things quite nice even when it was rainy. Excellent views of Arenal when the clouds permitted it.
We were happy to see the new pool area and restaurant open and the breakfast buffet there was most impressive. Every meal we had was delicious and the wait staff was excellent.
The helpfulness of the front desk staff was outstanding, the best I encountered during our trip, and for Costa Rica that's really saying something! They were adept at arranging numerous tour options and everything always went well and on time.
I wouldn't call it high-end luxury, but it's top of the line for <$100/night.

Perfect Volcano Views

My husband and I stayed at Volcano Lodge for an overnight trip and loved it! We checked in after dark and woke up to splendid views of Arenal the next morning! Our tidy front porch was steps away from gorgeous plants and flowers buzzing with hummingbirds. The included breakfast buffet satisfied us for a busy day of tours. Would definitely stay there again.
Great Hotel

My wife and I stayed at the Volcano Lodge for two nights and enjoyed every minute. The room was spacious, clean, and the staff was very helpful. The views from each room cannot be beat as we watched Arenal Volcano and its activity during the day and night. The breakfast buffet (included) was also very tasty and fresh. From omelets to fried plaintains to black beans and rice, we never left the table hungry. A great stay and we would come again.
Beautiful!

We were a couple of high school buddies without our families (husbands and kids) without us. We had spent 5 days in the Guanacaste area and came to Arenal to finish up our Costa Rica visit. We spent two nights at the Volcano Lodge and we were also very happy here. While the rooms are not huge, nor resort-style luxurious, they were big enough, spotlessly clean, and by no means shabby. We had perfect views of Arenal Volcano (it looked like all rooms had similarly fantastic views). Rooms have a small outdoor patio with rocking chairs where you can sit, listen to the river below, and watch the volcano (or not, depending on the clouds!) and exotic birds (flocks of parakeets and parrots). The breakfast buffet at the new restaurant was vey nice. They have a new pool and jacuzzi. The desk is helpful with booking excursions.
All together, a very nice lodge.
Top-notch arenal area hotel

We spent 2 nights at this hotel and were very pleased with the experience. The hotel has a resort feel to it; the rooms are spread out in clusters of one-story buildings, so that golf cart service is provided to carry luggage to the rooms. The property feels quite new and the extensive grounds are beautiful and well maintained with a profusion of exotic flowers. Rooms are very spacious and come with AC and cable TV. The Lodge is one of the closest to the Arenal Volcano itself and an excellent view is available from every room. There is a very good pool, but a much larger one was being built, together with a clubhouse. The open air restaurant serves good quality food. All and all, a wonderful experience.
Loved the new place

This was a second trip for us. We were showing my parents what
a wonderful country Costa Rica is. We tried to get a room at Tabacon
but they were sold out. Which was our great fortune. The only problem
we did not have a car. We were put in the newest section which is too
far to walk for an elderly couple. The staff was very helpful in rearranging
our rooms. The rocking chairs on the patio are wonderful for watching the
volcano. Great view. Front desk staff very helpful in arranging taxis,
tours and transportation back to airport.
A wonderful surprise

This is a wonderful resort, with very spacious rooms, with all conveniences, very well kept grounds, and of course the view of Arenal Volcano! The staff was very helpful and spoke excellent English. The restaurant is pleasant and the food was plentiful and quite good. La Fortuna is only a few kms away, and certainly worth a visit.
Volcano Lodge stay

Just returned from a 2-night stay at Volcano Lodge. The lodge is fairly new, which is reflected in the quality of the rooms. The shower was huge and the water pressure great, and the AC and satellite TV were nice touches. Each room has a private patio looking out at the volcano, and we spent a whole afternoon watching ash and rocks spew from the top. The lodge restaurant is really very good, though if you're a budget traveler, I wouldn't recommend it. While not cheap, the food was excellent - better than most meals we've had at home. We had gotten engaged the day before at Tortuguero, and celebrated with a dinner at Volcano Lodge - $100 USD included a bottle of wine, bottle of water, salads, appetizers, main dishes and desserts, plus all taxes, service charges, and an extra trip. Comparable to a great meal at home, and worth every dollar. The staff at the lodge are helpful, though the laundry service was a little odd. We had dropped off clothing at 7:30 a.m. and were told they would be ready by 7:30 p.m. the same day, but late into the evening, nothing had arrived. A call to the front desk let us know our clothing would be ready the next day, but after we explained that we were checking out at 7 a.m. the next morning, the clothing appeared within a half hour. So that was a bit strange.
