... The guide said that depending on the last digit of your license plate you can't drive your car!!! You are also not allowed to take a left hand turn because it is too crazy. And for some reason dogs are only allowed out for walks after 5pm. Must be too many dogs, too! Actually, they think some dogs might be dangerous and there are so many people that they must protect them???

I am back in Chengdu for Mid-Autumn Festival (12/09/11) on a couple day's getaway with Jocelyn and Manu (the Shaoyang foreign teacher in CQ for his visa).
When I go back to Chongqing tomorrow (14/09/11), later that day I am being sent back to Urumqi for a month (!!), which I only found out about 2 days ago before leaving for Chengdu. Three provinces in one day... crazy!!
... felt a little too modern. Its as if they knocked down all the old authentic places, and rebuilt them with what they think tourists want. Still, nice enough to stroll along. Saw some weird and wonderful food things – Quail on a stick. No, not just a piece of it, the whole bird... Head and everything. I was a little grossed out when I saw a young kiddie biting into its head!
That evening we ate in the hostel, and Si said he had the best Chinese curry ever... Looked ...
... cliff's edge, with the Chinese mist coming up from below and blowing over my face; very mystical and enlightening knowing how many monks and others had experienced this same exact phenomenon for the last few thousand years. And of course, seeing the monkey three feet away on our path on the way down was also a nice and alarming surprise! These were hungry little guys! One actually ran up and pinched Edie's leg- ...
