... has come to? I understand the precautions, as we know, there are sickos out there, but really. A very short drive to the next town of Donji Humac, a nice church and views of a white stone quarry. More importantly, this is the home of a semi-famous restaurant, featured in People Magazine. Supposed to have great lamb dishes, and it did, the bread was good, the olive oil was the best we have had since Italy, and the House Wine was the best ...

... boat, the beautiful wildflowers growing from rocks at every town we went to, the Croatian hospitality... A fabulous week. If you get a chance to do a sail in Croatia, (you don't have to do such a boozy one if you're not into that - there's heaps of types!), do it. So long as you like boats. ... rewarded with views of Hvar Island, our next stop. There are many other islands in the distance. We can see Bol and the Zlatni Rat below us. This is where we are heading for lunch. It is cool up here at the highest point in the Adriatic Islands, 778m. Surrounded by pine trees and the rocky outcrops, it feels more alpine than sea resort. A long and switchback windy road takes us down to the seaside resort town of Bol. We idle the car while tourists stand gob ...

Night swimming, wind surfing, and speedos, oh my!

... aspect, you see, so I can report any unusual activity in my blog. But I usually just saw some guys with big white guts hanging over faded speedos and sporting sandals that looked alarmingly like mine. Then I would rinse out my goggles and swim back the way I came. There was rarely any wind or current or wave chop of any kind, and the water depth varied from about ten to thirty feet. I could see the bottom as if I was looking down from the balcony of a second story hotel room through ...
