So the past M-F was spent on the beach in Playacar, MX at the Viva Azteca all-inclusive resort. When mom is paying for the room, I live large.
I immediately shut off my phone cuz MX thinks I should pay $1.10/min to call home...unreasonable.
I sincerely think that Mexicans in resort towns think that Americans have more money than they actually do. $15 for a piece of **** necklace made of rocks you picked up off the ground, no thanks. They also don't understand how much americans ...

... Cenote in question is a skull free zone, actually enjoy swimming with angry rain falling, rather nice as can´t feel the wind blasting us down here.

Spend night listening to the storm trying to break through the window and occasionally every two hours Í stick my leg out of the bed to check for any water. Wake up in morning, Hurricane Ida changed course overnight, busy causing major devastation elsewhere. Phew.
<br ...
Cozumel, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico john.boyd.123... a deco stop and I believe only bothered with a safety stop as Myk and I both did one. Next dive was shallow (around 12-15 metres) and while our DM didn’t bother with a safety stop, we kept under the surface for well over the three minutes since they decided not t bother with their SMB despite surfacing in a horrendously busy boat channel?? I would hate to think of nervous or inexperienced divers using this company as safety is about ...
Cozumel, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico twinkfranSo we leave Belize and head on a bus to Mexico, we take the express right to Cancun, stay a night or two and head down to Playa del Carmen. Our hotel is nice, cheap and basic but clean and comfortable. It has a pool which we don't use and free wifi and a huge book exchange that we do.

Playa del Carmen isn’t my favourite place, its touristy, loud, and Starbucks and Johnny Rockets are intermingled with pushy ...
Playa del Carmen, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico twinkfran... a funny airport. You land on the runway, then turnaround and taxi back down the same runway to the stairs. We took a ferry to Playa del Carmen (after of course throwing down some suds). We stayed at a small hotel with brick hard beds, no TV but a good rate. We went to Cancun the next day and realized quickly that Playa was more our speed (slow and quaint). We stayed at the Cancun Plaza and rode the rip-tides all afternoon.
Playa del Carmen, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico lawrenceporter... which reminded her of ancient Greek structures. The entire site is located on a semi-grassy, semi-desert plateau alongside the ocean on a small clifftop with a sprinkling of palm trees throughout. At the bottom of the cliffs are beautiful beaches with stunning turquoise waters, which were open for swimming. We came prepared and made our way into the water. It was pretty neat to swim in the warm water looking back at the pretty beach backed by a ...
Playa del Carmen, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico plamodo... in the process. Tthis site is interesting for a number of reasons. For me one of the features is that it is post-classic, that is it rose to prominence after the decline of the other great Mayan cities, becoming really important in the tenth century AD. The classic Mayan centres had been abandoned or greatly diminished by this stage. It shows a range of architectural innovations that are said to be Toltec inspired, and there is considerable debate as to ...
Playa del Carmen, Mexico mlc... this whole rental concept, we paid and decided to nap. Again within minutes we are asked to buy some jewelery. No gracias. Hammock? No gracias. This gets old real quick. In Jamaica they have guys with guns keeping the vendors out, no such luck here. After about 5 more hammock salesmen come by, we decide to cut bait. We'll go pile back into our Chevy dream machine and head up to Akumal a little early and hit ...
Akumal, Quintana Roo, Mexico austxdan... enough to serve the shot with lime, chilli powder (why has everything in Mexico got to include Chilli of some form) and the largest worm I have ever had the misfortune to eat... this baby would have kept the garden soil pure for an eternity! aaahhhh the sensation of it popping inside my mouth really did get my mind off the taste of the drink. Gradually made my way south and over to Playa del Carmen, took a while as I got held ...
