Patty: Cappadocia day 4

... of Cavusin. The scenery was gorgeous, there was nobody around, and it would have been perfect were it not for our children's voices echoing throughout the valley, fighting over a water bottle or something equally as stupid. The grace period was over. Nobody could claim jet-lag, and quite honestly, we had been hearing more of this pettiness than we should have at that point. So we sent them ahead and discussed what we should do about this. We ...

Family: Cappadocia day 1 - Urgup

... choclate and orange choclate cake, classical music playing in the background, and in all ways just made to feel incredibly welcome. After a quick lunch in Urgup, we set off for the first excursion into the hinterland to see rock formations and the general terrain. Unfortunately, we did get a little lost, but still managed to climb over some wonderful rock formations, and ended up ...

... the effort, as we realised. The palace was the seat of residence of the Ottoman Turks previously and was rather well maintained. It actually didnt look very awe-inspiring in terms of its presence or layout as much as some of the Indian palaces but still was a very beautiful place. The fact that the growing world population is not able to consume is not because of the insufficient amount of production, but because of the ...

Off to Cappadocia

... here has been fresh. After or meal the staff let me use the phone to call the hotel and request a shuttle. Our driver beat us back to the bus station. He spoke pretty good English that he said he has learned at our hotel: the Giramasu Cave Hotel (www.gamirasu.com). We drove down a one-way lane that twisted through what would be a stretch, I think, to call a town and ended up next to the hotel. There was no real check in. We were shown directly to rooms off the ...

Urgup

Yo. What a day - in the good sense of the word. My ac last night was a tad pricey at €14, but a lovely room all to myself after the dorms of Goreme - maybe thats a sign that Ým getting old! It was like one of those Ottoman period rooms that I saw in one of the many Konjais that I visited. Costume dress, furnishings, decor, everything - supberb. Plus ensuite with bfast on a lovely terrace overlooking Avanaos town, the Cappadocian plateau ...
