      Exploring a Menorcan Mansion

Eleanor was singing with the guitar first thing in the morning while I danced. The red around my tick bite was fading, thankfully, and so I happily told myself that my future health was fine. For my distant family to accept this was another matter, even my mother now writing with quite some persistence that if I didn't take antibiotics I could end up dead. We went for our lush breakfast in the conservatory of the Son Triay, and George was soon playing with a water pistol by the pool. ...

The Tick Scare and the Talati de Dalt

A lovely buffet breakfast greeted our awakening along with hot sun and blue skies. As is the way of George he was in the swimming pool soon after breakfast. Already having a tick wound I soon enough acquired another bite close to it as the farms black cat which snuggled up to my legs all of a sudden sunk its teeth into me. ... the place. Maybe this just stems from the time that we owned the island in the 18th Century?

Menorca is definitely a holiday island, it is much smaller than its neighbour, Majorca, seems far less developed and where this has taken place the villas or hotels seem to be on a much smaller, or higher quality scale. This might just be a 'rose tinted spectacles' view but it seems a pleasant place to spend some time and maybe with us being out of the main ...

      Day 39

... massive bruise on her bum. We continued around the island looking at caves, waterholes and private beaches. Fighting the wind to get back to the beach we realised we were to late and missed bus home so we got to spend a little more time at the beach then a massive hike up to the bus stop. We walked home getting pizza/pasta on the way then played drinking games for the rest of the ...
