Siiiiiiiiii
We woke up this morning to find ourselves just coming into Palma de Mallorca. Mallorca is the largest of the four Ballearic Islands – part of Spain and Palma is the capital. Very pretty little city and extremely well organized cruise ship dock – with ramps like at an Airport that you use to get yourselves into a covered walkway that takes you to the exit where you can pick up taxis or a bus into the town – ...
Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain suzanne-norman... everyone who’s coming aboard. So, whoever was on duty had raised the passarelle and had now gone inside. There are other boats around so I can’t just yell out until I get someone’s attention so I was stuck. I could either find a phone and call, return to the club, or just wait. There was a bench nearby so I sat down and just waited for about 20 minutes until I heard someone. I yelled out the names of a few people that I thought may be on ...
Palma, Balearic Islands, Spain and Canary Islands mylifesjourneyWe arrived in Cala de Calobra around 5:30. We anchored in the small bay and took a tender to shore. The little village has a small pier along one side of a steep hill and the village is crowded on the hillside raising between two much larger and steeper hills. The whole thing looks like some Hollywood set because of its idyllic setting on the small bay. There are several bars and restaurants where we got drinks and ate an early dinner.
sa Calobra, Balearic Islands, Spain mylifesjourneyWe left Ciutadella around 8 AM to cross back over to Mallorco and into the Bahai de Pollença. It is a deep cut and large protected bay on the northwest corner of the island. We anchored out in the bay, away from other boats and the crew setup everything for watersports. Since everyone was more spread out and busy with different ...
Port de Pollença, Balearic Islands, Spain mylifesjourneyJust south of the town of Portocristo are the Cuevas del Drach, which are really four caves all connected to each other. This cave however has a large lake in it, called Martel Lake. It's large enough to ride a boat in and to see all the stalactites hanging from the ceiling. It’s a beautiful place ...
Porto Cristo, Balearic Islands, Spain and Canary Islands mylifesjourney I take a bus to the other side of Palma where there are some small, pretty beaches. Finding them is a little tricky but they are pretty, for city beaches and have a much more Spanish orientation. Some really nice beaches are supposed to be available but I lack the time to work them in (it is large island with slow transit).
My roommate and I go out for the night in Palm central. We walk around and find a little place on a side street ...
... SpanAir, an airline that I have no familiarity. I was able to get a $100 fair from Scandinavia to Spain during peak vacation season. The flight is fine but they charge for everything, sodas and even water. While on the flight, my PC crashed. On the reboot it asked for bootable media. Yikes! A little panic but on the next reboot, it started up fine. I am backing up photos every few days but my PC has been key for my communication, my blog, photos, info collecting … Later in ...
Palma, Balearic Islands, Spain and Canary Islands will.travellerMaths in the square at night, being awesome at the quiz, teaching it to swim, vodka and top trumps each night, the boy crying about play club, the boy loving play club, the convertible red beast (megane), fred dancing with me, all the AWFUL people that go to those places (us not included)
Majorca, Balearic Islands, Spain thesanchez... pretentious manner, his drug-related reputation, and his general despicable self. This is what makes people not like him. My problem with him was that most of the day he was coked out, treating everyone like idiots (including me), as if we were his slaves. The day I resigned, Ed and I had been asked to show up at 8am to open up the restaurant. We were there at 8am sharp and continued to sit there by the door until 11am when Alberto decided to show up. Not even apologizing for ...
