    ... thru 4 tunnels and into Pompeii. Guided 2 hour walking tour of the ruins of Pompeii city destroyed by Mt Vesuvius eruption in Oct 79 AD. Wow in tour only covered about 20% of city as so massive. Had population of 15,000 thousand people within city walls and sea came right to city walls. The sea around 10 km away now.     ... a taxi and climb away from the city up, up, up a series of curvy residential roads to our charming hotel.

    We enjoy a chat with the innkeeper, buy a bottle of wine and retreat to our room to put up our feet. Feeling pretty tired after our morning of walking around the city. The kitchen is closed on Sundays so pizza is ordered for dinner and since the WiFi doesn't reach our room, we catch up on our social media while we wait downstairs.
