... got on the train, got off, got on the rack railway (basically, another train), shook our heads at the people who got off to ride up the cable car, got off the rack railway, and arrived at our destination, which was the monastery, basilica, and surrounding grounds of Monserrat.
After poking around the monastery, art museum, and inside/outside the basilica ...
... than a fleeting moment that all us traveling vagabonds have.
You meet travelers from all over, and inevitably meet people you have something in common with, so you end up having a drink, grabbing a kebab, going for a walk, or whatever. You get to know them a little bit, but afterward probably never speak or see them ever again. I've been fortunate during all my travels, because I have met a handful of people that I still keep in touch with, and ...
Banyouls Sur mer, Spain jebi... lollies, chocolates, fish, meats, basically anything you could think of, and more. For a couple of euro we had a wonderful amount of fruit to eat as snacks and for breakfast - we spent a long time just walking around and looking at the beautiful food. After walking along La Rambla for a few hours we decided to head back to the apartment for a late siesta before going back out for dinner. Well, so much for a siesta, we didn't wake up until the next morning - seems the sloths are back again!!!
Barcelona, Spain suzandtrent... of one's fashion statement. An interesting sight was seeing paid Asian 'massage therapists' or were they just vigorously applying sun screen to those hard to reach areas?
Paella is one of the Spanish dishes not to be missed here (rice, saffron, tomato and a mix of seafood and or meats) and we heartily gave it a test, several times. Salamanca, a famous eatery in La Barcelonetta with dozens pictures of 'famous' and not so famous ...
... right on the Plaza and then proceeded to order about 12 different types of Tapas - about two bites per person and we washed it down with some Sangria and local brew. Our table wasn't large enough to fit it all on at once - so our waiter brought more as we cleaned the plates. It was really nice. Then after dinner (about 11 p.m.) we started to head to La Ramblas - we noticed people eating Gelato....guess what that meant McTaggart!? We followed the dripping ...
Barcelona, Spain jimstephkrueger... clutch. Took it easy and toured around the city. We saw an old cathedral, walked along the shore, and had some tiring touristy fun. The nighttime activities were the main event. We saw the "magic fountain" on Mont Juic (Jew Mountain). It was nothing short of amazing to see lights and water erupt in tune with classical music. An old Catalonian guy took this picture. He didn't get it right but we love it/him anyway. Then we ...
Barcelona, Spain mwolf... that was open all day. So we just ate breakfast and lunch there and it save us quite a bit of money. We visited the Aquarium, which was way over priced. (the Seattle aquarium is way cooler) The Picasso museum was absolutely fabulous because we got to see his work from beginning to end. The transformation he went through was so vast. Since Picasso is from Spain, his work is everywhere. Every time I saw it, I loved it! We visited ...

Barcelona, Spain shennygWell Madrid was more than we expected so we couldn't wait for Barcelona because we've heard it's the place to be by all of the people we met in Madrid. Barcelona is located in the South East of Spain on the Mediterranean. It has the mixture of old world Madrid and beach front U.S. Very young, hip, and many interesting sites, including the world famous architect and masterpiece primarily designed by Antoni Gaudi ...
