... to check in, or it was going to cost us another £170 for the Ryanair staff to do it!! So I carried out the now familiar routine of entering my details onto the free wifi website, and with seconds to spare finally checked in. The flight was short but eventful, as we watched a couple spend way more money on extras than they would have done had they opted for a regular flight rather than an 'el cheapo'. Our late arrival ...

Cabo de Gata/Las Negras

We arrived at Cabo de Gata around 2 pm which has beautiful beaches with clear water but full of sea urchins, on top of that we got hassled by aggressive flies and sandblasted as there was a special wind called the Poniente for a couple of days. We won't be staying to long I think. We stayed a couple of hours on the beach and than took the car and went into the small village down hill. No way to find a tv with the pay channel that would ...

... a pretty little village, a former fishing enclave, now a tourist resort. The path out of Las Negras climbs a hill giving excellent views down the coast. Cala de San Pedro is described as a delightful bay. The ...

Monday 28th April

Weather: same same

We moved up the coast to a campsite at Los Escullos. There isn't anything at Los Escullos except the campsite, a restaurant and an old Fort. The campsite is about a kilometre from the beach so we headed there later in the afternoon for a spot of sunbathing.

Tuesday 29th April

Weather: Can it get any hotter?

Did a circular walk today in land to San Jose and then along ...

... the cycle route we had done on Friday. This took us in and out of lots of small coves - all very up and down. The scenery is volcanic with cacti, prickly pear trees, thyme and palmettos. We are in the National Park proper now so no unsightly greenhouses. The colours are beautiful, all earthy browns and dusty greens. The volcanic nature of the land gives rise to interesting rock formations including basalt ...
