Eden Apartments



The apartment complex has the reception, laundry and shop at low level and all the low rise rooms (only two storeys) above on almost a flat area. We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment here. The apartment consisted of lounge /kitchen, bathroom, 2 twin bed bedrooms.

... the scenery high up in the mountains was barren and looked like a moonscape. It was amazingly stark. We stopped at many points for photos and information from our guide. We walked around the areas half way up the volcano and in old craters and lava fields surrounding the volcano. It was a great excursion and we were very impressed with the island, the towns, and the overall feel of the place. We will definitely come back spend more time here at some point.

One more weekend before I fly back to the UK to spend three weeks with family. On the 19th May, my other half - the driver - motoguzziman joins me in Manchester and then on the 27th we fly to Totonto where the bike is stored. We´ll need two new tyres before we can take her anywhere - but friends are ready to help us sort that out.

... I was turning them back in there were a lot of people asking for new forms because they had completed them wrong. I went to dinner with "my family" on the ship. One of the programs they offer onboard is the extended family program where faculty and life long learners adopt a family for the voyage. Las Palmas was the home of Christopher Columbus before he sailed to the New World in 1492. It was an interesting place to walk around for a few hours. Beautiful wooden balconies on many of the buildings, tropical foliage and lovely sunny weather in the middle of January combined for a nice day. Amazingly, I escaped without buying a single pair of Spanish leather shoes (because my luggage was already so full). Next time I visit, I'll bring an extra suitcase to completely fill with shoes.

Las Palmas has a mainland-Spain feel, spiced up with an eclectic mix of other cultures, including African, Chinese, and Indian, plus the presence of container-ship crews and the flotsam and jetsam that tend to drift around port cities. It's an intriguing place with the sunny languor and energy you would normally associate with the Mediterranean or North Africa. The hooting taxis, bustling shopping districts ...

... didn't eat a descent meal since the rock. During my second watch, between 2 showers i got the pleasure to have a quick look at the stars. So have been in Gran Canaria since midnight on Monday, spending our time getting the boat ready for the trip. We have bought over 1500 Euros of food - am thinking we need to circumnavigate the world twice to get through it let alone just an Atlantic crossing! Lots of odd jobs are being done - main focus is on safety - so been practising and getting ready for any emergencies. Makes it all very real but at least we are prepared ...

Had a brilliant time and went on a 7 miles beach walk most days from Playa de Ingles to Maspolomas where all the sand dunes are. On the evening went to the yumbo centre where they have all the Drag queen acts which were really funny. Unfortunatly for me I kept getting dragged on stage lol.

I hated this holiday - the apartments were away at the top of the hill, beyond the Europa Centre and they were building a new hotel next door, we were told that it was only remedial work - total nightmare. The were drilling from early in the morning til sunset - but apart from that nothing would entice me back to the same area again!
