      It didn't take much arm twisting to send us to Chama, a small town of less than 1,000 residents. After all, my brother-in-law, Joe Vigil, had touted the virtues of his hometown for years. And his family was waiting for us with open arms and warm hospitality.

      Chama has been home to four generations of Vigils. Snuggled on the state line, it's closer to Colorado than it is to Tierra Amarilla, the county seat.

      Prairie dogs are very susceptible to bubonic plague and many wild colonies have been wiped out by it. The largest recorded prairie dog' town' covered some 25,000 square miles (65,000 square kilometers). That Texas town was home to perhaps four hundred million prairie dogs. Had a great ride south but cold coming home with solid rain for the last 20 miles. A great weekend....

      ... we watched the train, snapped pictures then piled back into the truck and drove until we were ahead of the train and had a good vantage point, then waited for it to arrive and took more pictures.
