Vista del Mar Boutique Hotel
Travel Blogs from Cozumel
We are off on holiday!!! So excited. We got a taxi to the bus station and brought one way tickets to Playa del Carmen for just £2.50 each. The journey took an hour but it was fine, the coach was very modern and even had TVs with a film playing, although it was dubbed into Spanish. We walked the short distance from the bus station to the port. …
... big breakfast leaves us not needing to sit down for a full lunch and means we all can graze as we please for snacks, BBQ food, fruit or the ice cream shop by the pool.
We are learning our way around and the ways of resort life! Our challenge to show we have figured things out will be to remover to leave a few items on the chaise lounges of our choice early in the day because the best ones ...
Days 48 - 50 (Miercoles 30 Octubre - Viernes 1 Noviembre) We caught the ferry from playa Del Carmen to Cozumel. It worked out well as we had to wait only 10 minutes to get out of this crazy touristy playground. Some people love Playa but for us it didn't seem like a place we wanted to stay. As usual we hadn't actually booked our accommodation and spent a while walking around with our backpacks to find something. El Hostelito looked really nice but it was ...
... were able to follow along with the guide. We saw a good variety of fish, many of which I can't remember the names of, but including a big Barracuda and a Sting Ray. No sharks though. We didn't complain.
We stopped in Cozumel for some food, which cost a fortune and a wander round the square by the pier to buy some touristy nick-nacks and then headed back to the ferry and then on to the apartment.
... Cozumel. After I left the water I air dried while laying in a hammock and together Caroline and I watched tourists take pict ures next to a bench that was designated for topless sunbathers... none of which actually went topless. As it neared the time to return the car I walked down the beach and retrieved J&K and we rode the last few miles back to the port. $10 worth of gas (about a gallon and a half island price) and we easily returned the car with a little time left to shop ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Vista del Mar Boutique Hotel Cozumel
We spend a couple of nights at the Vista Del Mar last week, and we thought it was wonderful. We had an ocean view room, and enjoying a cup of coffee on the terrace first thing in the morning was the best. The room was charming, the bed comfortable, and the service was great. We inquired about a rental car, the young woman at the desk recommended Avis, and within about 15 minutes she had arranged for Avis to come pick us up at the hotel. If we are lucky enough to visit Cozumel again, we will certainly stay at Vista Del Mar.
Excellent staff, will go back
We loved the hotel location and decor. The staff is outstanding. I commend them all. I was there for 2 days only. I was in an accident on the 2nd day. We were to go on to another hotel for the remaining 5 days in Playa Del Carmen. After the accident, I needed to get back to the states. The lady that works the front desk was so very very helpful. She helped my son by searching on the internet to cancel my other reservations. She also looked up phone #s to help cancel flights and make new ones. She went above and beyond her duties to help. We are very pleased with the service and will go back as soon as I can travel again. I can not say enough about the great caring service I recieved.
Thank you all at Vista Del Mar from Cheryl and Damien!!
In the past I have noted that you Americans have been either very harsh or over-gushing with your reviews of hotels.
Loved the Vista Del Mar
The Vista Del Mar was wonderful! The staff was very friendly, the location was very convenient, and we could see the ocean from our balcony! I would recommend this hotel to everyone that wants a good clean hotel with a Mexican feel.
This was our first visit to Cozumel. We liked staying in the city and had no problems with noise. We chose to upgrade to an oceanview room and felt this was well worth the extra money. We enjoyed having our breakfast everyday on our balcony (the breakfast was always delivered promptly, by the way) The hotel's staff is very helpful and friendly, and they really made the hotel stand out. We used Dive with Martin for our diving, and were very pleased with that service as well. For the diving, we were picked up each day at the Plaza Las Glorias, which is five blocks south--an easy ten minute walk. If we were in the mood for a beach we would either take a taxi or have our dive boat drop us off at a beach on the way back. We would certainly return to the Vista del Mar both for the convenience and for the great service.
We had some trepidations about staying downtown, having stayed all over Cozumel on past trips, mostly in more expensive hotels out of town. We will only stay at the Vista del Mar from now on. The room decor is lovely, and the beds are the best we've had in Cozumel, not rock-hard nor too soft. Our room was on the back of the hotel, overlooking a nice little market that runs from 9 AM - 9 PM, but the gentle sound of our air conditioner blocked any noise and we slept til noon if we felt like it. If you want to sit by the little pool, you can run down the stairs to the Viejo Pescador and buy a couple of beers to take back to the pool, with a shot of the best tequila provided free. Our room had a king-sized bed, and a double bed for my son in a semi-private area. The owners celebrated the new year with us, with a little free reception at 6 PM, hot appetizers and champagne. Every morning you roll over and call the front desk, and in 10 minutes you receive a tray with juice, coffee, and Mexican sweet rolls. How delightful to breakfast on your patio, for free! Any problems reported by the previous reviewer re: getting your breakfast every day have clearly been resolved.
We came upon this little hotel via friends living in Cozumel--what a find! They have an excellent rate for airline employees!
Awesome Property in Downtown Cozumel
I've being coming to Cozumel for many, many years, and knew the Vista del Mar, but this year the owner actually changed completely into a Small Boutique Hotel full of nice decor and small simple beautiful dedcoration. We loved the hotel as well as the staff that made our stay much much better in Cozumel downtown. Very nice & we recommend it for your next trips to Cozumel Island.
Great renovation jOb
Have stayed at this edge of downtown very clean and well kept area hotel on many ocassions both pre and post renovation. The changes are all very positive from both the remodeling of the rooms, conveniences in the rooms: i.e. good cable TV, quick & timely morning in-the- room breakfast service and attentive hotel management and staff personnel. Big savings on hotels further south of town on taxi expenses also makes this hotel an excellent choice. As several rooms face the Cozumel's main street, noise doing busy times of day can be somewhat disconcertaining.
Great little hotel
Vista Del Mar is a great little hotel. Located downtown on the main drag just a short walk from the plaza. ( two minuets ) Two pools and ocean views, the extra large and very clean rooms make up for the lack of a beach. I'm an airline employee and almost always stay here, for the money it's a great deal
