Um 7 Uhr fährt der Zug in den Bahnhof von Winnipeg ein, aber wir müssen bis 8 Uhr im Zug bleiben, da wir erst auf das Bahnhofspersonal warten müssen. Die gesamte Zugfahrt wird mit einer Menge Zeit für Halt eingeplant, weil man ständig auf Güterzüge warten muss und man nie weiß, wie das Wetter so ist. This trip hasn't happened yet, obviously. But things have a nasty habit of happening really fast when you stop thinking about them.

Set off a bit later than normal, but that was because of the time zone change. We're now on Winnipeg time, whatever the technical term for that is. But it means we're nearly at the end of the journey.

... the platform. I walked over to the end of the platform, in a blustery dawn, with the gentle rays of the warming sun indicating the rapidly approaching winter here.
