    ... to see David, so head off to his queue. However, it's going to be 2 hrs in the blazing heat...couldn't do it. So linch instead. J keen for the inevitable pizza, so we decide to avoid the tourists & head off on our own. Found a market just clearing away, & checked a couple of restaurants before finding the ideal one! Pizzas were 4 euros! Not a tourist in sight either. Delicious pizzas too..

    ... area where our innkeeper could meet us to help carry our bags several blocks to our lodging. Warren did an outstanding job of maneuvering our Jeep, considered small in the US but a very large car for this tiny Italian town, and we finally arrived safely.


    After settling in we wanted to go to a small but highly rated restaurant Trattoria del Moro Aronne; with the help of our inn keeper we were able to get a table and it was worth it! ...

    After we left Pitigliano we headed west to check out Orvieto. Just as we were approaching the town we came upon a lookout where we could see the town sitting up on the hill. Breathtaking view. Although not technically in Tuscany it is a classic example of a hill town.

    ... of course wonderful and after our class that morning we had a new found appreciation for Italian cuisine since we were a bit more in tune to the special attention paid to the ingredients. Our favorite part of that meal was definitely the fried zucchini blossoms that were served with fried sage leaves. We just happened to order them to try something as an appetizer and they turned out to be incredible. A real fall/winter treat and an excellent start to a great meal.
