... s an explosives expert. What an interesting woman!

Living in such cold temperatures brings with it unique challenges. Animals can't drink water, because it is all frozen. To compensate for this, they need to eat foods that have a high water content. We also had to fetch water from a hole drilled into the frozen lake and drag it back to the cabin for use. The frozen water issue does not stop there, as one can also not pour waste water down the drain as it would freeze ...

It's a lovely old wooden house right by a forest and a lake. In the nearby main campsite, there is real a wood fire sauna, plus an eagerly anticipated dreaded ice hole. The sauna is actually built on top of a lake, which is frozen over in winter. There's a covered hole that goes direct into ...

As we had cleaned our cabin and packed our bags the night before, we were quickly on our way to the hotel entrance for the transportion service back to Kiruna, which was scheduled to depart at 7 AM. We noticed our other large bag (the one that wasn't shredded on the flight here) had begun falling apart as well, so we obtained duct tape from the hotel receptionist for a makeshift repair.

We shared a minivan with ...
