Travel Blogs by Travelers Who Stayed at the Vinh Hung 1 Hotel Hoi An

Shopping, Engerland and a whole new wardrobe

Stayed at Vinh Hung 11 hotel - got a free gift for staying so long! Hoi Ann is probably the prettiest town in Vietnam and therefore very popular with the tourists. It is an old sea port full of crumbling buildings dating from the 1700's upwards and built in a variety of styles from Chinese to French Colonial. Hoi Ann possesses small town charm and lacks the craziness of Hanoi or Hue. Yes there are motos, yes they want you to go for a ride, but no you don't hear horns blaring 24/7. Thank God i...

Purple suit part one

Thursday 9 September - Hue to Hoi An, Vinh Hung 1 Hotel We decide that we're going to further trim our itinerary, skip Danang, and head straight to Hoi An, a riverside and nearly costal city a few hours south of Hue. A quiet a pleasant train journey to Danang. Followed by grafting and hassle, all we want is a taxi to a hotel we have chosen in Hoi An. Starting to get ****** off by being taken to and offered every hotel but the one we asked for. Eventually get to the chosen hotel. It's charming...

HoiAn

Well are leaving Nha Trang we headed for the Over night sleeper train at 7pm. When we saw our train pull up we saw that there were people getting out of the beds so we didnt think it was our train...... but sure enough it was!! All the beds were used and Jess still had someone sleeping in hers!! I was mortified..... if we didnt ask the guy to get us some fresh sheets nothing would of been done! I just couldnt believe it!! After we changed our own sheets we stayed up chatting with Jayne, Dirk,...

Hoi An ( Old Town)

Arrived at Da Nang at 11am and took taxi to Hoi An ( about 35km ) Cost was about 9 pounds....compare that to the UK. Nice driver as well. After 35km I could write down his entire family history and hopes for the future...if only I had time. Taxi had to drop us off at end of a lane as this was a pedestrianised area, except for Rickshaws, bicycles and mopeds. Instantly noted so much quieter than Hanoi and lots less traffic. The Hotel we booked on the Internet is famous because it was the Hotel ...

Hoi An and the Mysterious Locking Bathroom

Oh dear ... it seems that the Malaria tablets that we are taking may be upsetting Helen digestive system ( polite speak ) so we need to be near toileting facilities. Last night when we returned to our room our bathroom had locked itself. It only has a piece of wood that you push over to lock from the inside and some spirit closed our bathroom door and locked it from the inside. ( could be the spirit of my mum Gladys having a laugh at us ). The experience was ok for me but was very difficult f...

Emergency Ward 10 at Hoi An Hospital

Awake early....Hels feeling poorly so read info supplied with Malaria tablets ( Doxycycline ) which said if symptoms persist ask for medical advise. Therefore phoned our insurance 24 hour medical line and there actually was a very nice lady who took details and said go and see a doctor to be safe. As there is a Hospital Unit in Hoi An, just up the road ,we went there. All notices in Vietnamese and we instantly looked lost but literally within 15 seconds two members of staff, one a nurse and t...

... I know they are just trying to make a living but they can be very persistent. "NO! I don't want to buy a lighter!!". Pretty sure Mark was the same.

So we arranged for a lovely tuk tuk driver to take us to the airport. Unfortunately, about 5 minutes after we left, we came across a massive traffic jam. For some reason, the government had completely closed off the bridge which you take to get to the airport. The roads were ...

... stopped, we got cash out of the ATM, bought fruit and water, had a little walk round and then got back on the bus to go ooo the 100 yards to the crossing.
The border crossing on the Cambodia side was fairly straightforward . You get off the bus and an immigration officer shouts your name and you get back on the bus!!! Simple!
The Vietnamese side was er.... not so straight forward! You get off the bus, get all you bags and belongings and go through immigration which in itself ...
