Joburg I had my final day in Joburg today and we flew down to Cape Town this afternoon. Last night we went to an African themed restaurant and had some great food! I had a first there but I will get to that a bit later. When in Joburg (this is the short name the locals use for Johannesburg), both days I spent at the client site. This site was …

... and handmade malachite bangle bracelets. Then we went on the Cape Town Wheel. It was so windy up there. The sound of the wind was scary.

After that we went to a steakhouse on the water but we decided to sit inside because of the wind. It was good but the prices here are higher- tourist trap.

... to 8 knots on sails. I had already had my final sign off/appraisal by the captain. I didn't do too badly, mostly 5/5, one 4.5/5. Good reviews, only thing he said was maybe a little too relaxed! It was not my fault that I lost 1/3 of my watch. I managed to get 24 on watch and everyone to helm - I think that is good delegation. Anyway it looks like I can come back. Happy hour was replaced by delirious 90mins! Not ...

... participation in the student uprisings of 1976. It was very interesting to hear him explain about life in the prison from his first hand experiences. He conclude the tour, with a passionate "Thank You" to all for his freedom and a plea to share the story with others in order to avoid a repeat of it. It touched my heart, and I hope we can stop repeating the horrors/struggles of yesteryear. Be smarter with our future than we were with our past. ...
