    Tea at High Noon

A travel blog entry by awesomefaith on Oct 21, 2014

... didn't eat to much for I knew what we were doing after breakfast. After we came back from breakfast we changed into our nicest clothes and made our way down to the taxi waiting for us. Once we got in the cab we drove to the Mount Nelson Hotel. There we were seated for tea. This was no normal tea though. This was tea at high noon at the Nelly, as the locals call it. The waitress made our tea for us ...

We had talked to a few locals in Cape Town through the website couchsurfing.org (CS) prior to arriving. The website connects travelers interested in a 'local experience' with locals willing to open up their homes, interested in learning about other cultures and making friends from around the world. She held onto me the whole rest of the tour which was pretty long, but I didn't mind. Everyone in our group had 'their own' child following them or that they were carrying. It was so fun. Unfortunately when the tour was over our tour guide said we had to leave the children so we hugged them goodbye. It was really sad.

... all. Megan handled the situation very well though. Luckily, before dinner I put all of her pictures on my computer so at least she didn't lose any of those. When we returned home after dinner we all finished taking each others pictures and putting them on our computers and wrapping other stuff up. It was so crazy to think that our time in South Africa was coming to an end. I did not want to go to bed, I wanted to stay up all night an soak up as much as I possibly ...

... very accommodating. After school I sat down for some serious planning. It has been harder here because of the different curriculum and the way their school is set up, I will not get the same chances to do all my own planning and implement it. Unfortunately this is the reality of doing an alternative practicum. Something else that is becoming evident is that I am going to work a bit harder to re-align my beliefs and what I have learned so far with ...
