... the tap water! We got through security pretty quickly (only told a minor lie about having no food-we had salt, oil and oregano!) and picked up our big bags – no problemmo. Got an airport shuttle for $17 each to our hostel in Hollywood. USA hostel had a room for $120 but didn’t accept American Express. We also didn’t have enough US dollars to pay in cash-but even if we had they needed credit card details as a deposit. They told ...

... to Santa Monica. En route, we met Dennis, a Canadian from Melbourne who was killing a day in Santa Monica too, on his way home from - can you believe it - Guadalajara (where Seb & Laura's wedding is)! So we had a great chat about the "must do" spots in Mexico. He even called his mum for travel safety tips for us in Guadalajara and beyond, gave us his sim card (10 days of data) to use in Mexico and a very favourable exchange rate on his leftover ...

8am breakfast buffet for $12!! Hella yeah. On the menu - Oats! Oh man, I've never been so excited to finally smash some oats down, just like back at home. Going from eating a whole cup of oats sometimes twice a day, to none, was definitely an easy transition. But it felt so good to know I could get something healthy! Though I even didn't touch it. I went straight for pancakes, bacon, bacon, bacon, eggs, bacon, French toast, bagels.. And way more!! ...
