After the beautiful blue skies yesterday, we awoke to some grey clouds and light rain. It was still warm and we weren't going to let a few drops of water spoil our day. We made our way back to the Placa Espanya as it was our nearest stop for the hop-on/hop-off tour. We did a complete loop of the Red Route around the city to get our bearings and see …
An early morning and back into economy for our flight from Dubai to Barcelona. While waiting for our baggage Diane managed to spot a couple of Harvest bags so we have already met Tony, Norma and Beverley from Queensland. It was after 3pm by the time we were settling in to our hotel. We're in amongst the locals with a lovely view from our window. …
... of the floor person and he did return the call and set up an appointment for Monday. However, John and I have been living a very peculiar existence since getting home. Our 7 foot square dining room table is at the foot of our bed. I am using my makeup table as a desk. We have to come and go when the floor is wet out our back bedroom door. This is not fun! And now ...
... just different.
Dinner was nice, very noisy but we hope that is because there are a lot of excited people. Our waiter was a funny little man named Dolly..... His smile is as big as the Grand Canyon and his giggle was infectious.
700 Australians on board, 2100 people in total and there are heaps of Americans. They are an interesting lot...... Some are larger than Texas and it is hard to know if you saw them or heard them ...
... the train back at 9 in the morning but by 11 I'd already had 2 bottles of wine and 10 ish small beers so that was not an option anymore. Great mix of people out on the third night. Had an absolute blast. Barcelona is definitely gonna be visited again. And back in Foix everything is normal. No camera yet so I called up the post office and apparently there was something wrong with the address. But it's on it's way tomorrow and I'm really looking forward to ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Hotel Vincci Arena Barcelona
Beware Hotels.com finder to landmark booking feature; Vincci Arena is NOT "0.5 Miles From Barcelona Convention Center ". Despite also showing on Hotels.com location finder tab, this hotel is miles from conference center so couldn't practically attend conference in the evenings.
Good 4 star hotel
I spent just 2 nights at the Vincci Arena and i can say that is a good 4 stars hotel.
The hotel is located just 1 block from subway line 1 ( Tarragona ) and line 3 ( Espana ).
My room, as showed on website, was clean, modern with an excellent bed.
Staff very helpfull.
I will be back at the Vincci
We just spent 3 nights and wish we would of booked for a full week here.
The location was perfect, just a block from the rapid transit station. Also close to lots of cheap local restaurants that had great food.
The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. The airlines lost our luggage and the staff was so helpful in making the calls to help locate it for us. They all spoke excellent English.
I loved the modern decor in our room, everything was very comfortable. The lighting was a bit different and took a few minutes to get it all figured out. The rooms were very quiet, no outside noise. We would certainly stay here again.
Well, I have to say if you are traveling for buisiness to Barcelona...do not stay here. There is no internet in rooms, only available in the lobby, so you can imagine if you are doing buisiness then that is a big problem...
Room service stops at 11:00 PM, thus there is no 24 hour service which is rather odd for a hotel that claims to be 4 stars...
Service was good, there was a gentleman by the name of Javier who was very helpful and went out of his way to make the stay as pleasent and comfortable as possible. Unfortunately although the service was good the lack of in room internet and 24 hour room service makes this short of a 4 star hotel...
Very Clean, Great Location
Just returned from a one night stay at the end of a cruise. We had two rooms (both on the small side, and one slightly smaller than the other) and the overall experience was great. Fantastic location, quite close to the metro and the train station (5 minute walk to either). We thought the beds were very hard, but given that the air conditioning worked so well (unusual in Europe) we could forgive them this. Rooms were very quiet. I was quite surprise to learn that the hotel had no iron available for pressing clothes and the shower only reached a lukewarm temperature. But, the staff was very friendly and the hallways being uncooled was really no big deal.
I stayed at this hotel with my partner and we both want to rush back. The slight niggle first. The hotel is situated on carrer central de cent which is a street split in two by parc juan miro. most taxi drivers have not discovered this new hotel yet ... so they more often than not try the other side of the street (not surprisingly as it is the longer portion). The hotel is extremely well situated near to the plaza espana - about 1 min walk away and within 1 min walk of two metro stations. The hotel is exceptionally modern in design and furnishings. The staff were extemely helpful and went out of their way to help us. The rooms are spacious with excellent lighting, air conditioning and very comfortable beds. The bathrooms are amazing - so cool and relaxing. The corridors leading to the rooms are very warm due to some strange green lights outside each guest room - but how long do you spend in the corridor? The breakfast is not expensive in my view for what you get - there is a good range of options and the waiting staff are incredibly friendly. i would have preferred there to have been an option of a restaurant in the hotel - but there are some amazing places to eat in barcelona. i can not recommend this hotel highly enough.
We just return from Barcelona where we stay at Da Vincci Arena for 3 nights. General comment is that hotel is very new and that I would stay there again. Rooms are nicely decorated, ligths can be adjusted on 1000 ways, bathroom is very nice, location is very good (few minutes walking distance from Plaza Espana), air conditioner worked excellent.
Problem was with coridors which are not air conditioned and it was very hot. Also when I came to the room I found door of mini bar open, so all drinks been warm. There was nothing to open beer with. I found breakfast quite expensive (14 Euros). For 12 Euros you can have nice breakfast for 2 people 150m from hotel on your way to Plaza Espana.
I stayed at the Vincci Arena for 3 nights in May, 2006 with my girlfriend. I decided to try it out since it was a new hotel and looked great from the website.
