Vime Senbhotel - Senigallia

It seems like we’re a little too late for traveling further by bike. Walking down the street today it was only 6 degrees and raining. A few more degrees and it will be snow. Far too cold for cycling and camping (at least by our standards), and not very fun for sight seeing either. This is winter settling in in northern Italy.

Arrived early in the morning and it took us forever to get off the boat. No kind of organisation at all and then we had to queue for an age to go thru customs in the van, but then we were on our way. ... it was going well. I sat in for a hand for Anita, Dan took over Sara's cards and then I scored. Calvin did better than last time and Anita took the game out completing Phase 10. It was 11pm ish by this time and we had docked at the northern most Greek port, so we popped out on deck to see if we could see any Albanian stowaways trying to get on, we couldn't so we headed off to bed and slept with no intention of getting up for breakfast at 9am!

Off to the beach today, that is pretty much all there is to do in Ancona. Beautiful day though. 30min bus ride to get to the beach. The water was amazing, bright blue with white pebbles.

Got a little burnt! Everyone at the beach was so tanned!!!! even the babies!!!

8am departure from Venice, full bus today. Traffic the whole way to Ancona was horrible. We got in 2hrs late and had to wait 1.5hrs until the hostel opened. We sat on a slab at the end of the street with an aussie couple. After awhile we heard water being dropped form a ...

The dual carriageway was succeeded by the east coast motorway and soon we were in Ancona. Fears about check-in proved groundless - it all ran very smoothly and the only problem ...

No program for the afternoon so we planned our escape to the beach by the pool. Whilst it is difficult to leave the pool adventure is a foot. Cagli was an option but the beach had the greater pull. about a 45 minute drive to Fano. Denis Hieke Mandy & I set off after lunch but the clouds were set to close in on us as we headed towards the coast.

We left for Urbino after breakfast for a quick trip (Birth place of Raffaello - painter) of course coffee & gelati was part of our plans with some sights thrown in.

Nice place and worth the trip. No time to view the museo a bit of a shame as there is a section with Rafael.

We had some great views going over the mountains going to/from Urbino. Mandy is handling driving the larger car just fine.

We boarded the huge car ferry and found aboard heaps of backpackers dossing on the deck just like i did 23 years ago and the mobile homes actually could be accessed on a outside deck so the campers slept in the them.
