... at 25kph behind a tractor. Behind the living wagon and tractor they had another small trailer for their motorbike and side car. Thats Style!
At Barra we had watched the Portuguese close down and move out for the winter, here we watched North Europeans arrive and get bedded down for the winter. This was just as complicated a task involving setting up kitchen tents, erecting wind shields, washing lines and ...
... to arrive in hot places at midday carrying rucksacks and looking lost, we arrived in Tavira at around 1230 the mercury hitting 35 degrees, laden down and looking lost. Our hotel, booked online, for its proximity to the town centre could be seen high on a hill overlooking the town, perched in such a way as to be visible but seemingly disconnected from the narrow twisty streets. After a few wrong turns and a scare from a little but vicious dog, we ...
Tavira, Algarve, Portugal warm... Atlantic. Lots of smallish waves roll in - not in sets like in Perth but just one wave after another. They weren't good enough to body surf but that didn't stop us from trying.
Friday sees us travelling by train to Faro then changing to the express to Lisbon to our apartment. And then a whole new adventure will start.

We´ve been practising our very limited Portugese - I think we can say about 3 expressions so far! Locals seem to find our efforts amusing! :-)

On glancing back towards the docks on the east bank I was surprised to see shipbuilding going on. Much of the original docks were built by English engineers for the loading of copper ore carried down from high up in the Sierras. Once on the west bank I picked my way through heavier traffic than I had anticipated (which remained the case for most of ...
Vila Real de Santo Antonio, Portugal jamie_pete... I was met by a guy who offered to open the garage doors for me. Later a second guy speaking near perfect English made my day when he asked: "Are you Peter Tanner?" He explained that he was the night receptionist and had spotted my booking. After checking that everything was okay with my room and bike storage he then advised me on sights to visit and, most importantly, a place to eat. What a nice bloke! I walked round ...

Foiniiklased ja kreeklased seadsid Lagose jõesuudmes üles poe, mille Afonso III vallutas mauride käest tagasi 1241.a ning portugallased said jätkata siit Põhja-Aafrika moslemite ahistamist.
