We then headed west to a coastal town called Klaipeda which sits at the northern end of the Curonian Split, a strip of land 150km long and 20km wide extending to the Russian region, Kaliningrad, which I never knew existed but it stands to reason that the Russians would be loathe to cede all the lands back to the respective countries. We continued our walk through places like the Vilnius Cathedral, which had a special chapel dedicated to St. Casimir. There, people left silver hearts to give offerings in thanks for various blessings and miracles. At one time, this chapel was connected to the royal palace.
