We visited Notturno Intarsio, a handmade maker of beautiful inlaid wood items, gorgeous tables, cabinets, picture designs, etc. These were real works of art and all done by hand, not with automated machines. From Sorrento, we drove further down the Amalfi Coast, with gorgeous views. Homes are built on the scenic mountainsides, with breathtaking views of the Meditteranean. ... and souvenirs and headed off in our mercedes to Sorrento. There was some pretty scenery but one seven kilometre long tunnel through the mountains. We arrived at our hotel which was well located but not as wonderful as we would had liked. We went for a walk and what a surprise, Sorrento is huge and just a mass of shops. We found the laundromat, supermarket, lift to the beach and the panoramic view point. There is actually very little "beach" at Sorrento though the water ...
... very passionate and the 2 hours flew by. We were both awestruck by the place. Seeing the casts of the bodies dying in agony, including a dog and a boy, was a bit confronting and sad.

We were put on individual chairs & as we went up we observed people coming down. Many of them said to not get off at the top or it gets worse from here. Yes, it was pretty chilly on top BUT it was also fogged in!!! We said it reminded us of our trip to the the Great Smokey Mountains-- we never saw a view then either. You had to just laugh at it!
