Nicolosi to Taormina fine and Warmish

A travel blog entry by kenb on Nov 22, 2014

Tricky drive down the hill to highway, not well signposted and took a couple wrong turns but got there in the end. Can't say I enjoy driving in Sicily. Roads are very narrow, rarely straight, and the other drivers are maniacs. The drive into Taormina from highway was just as stressful, with the road doubling back on itself and winding in no fixed direction, but somehow we managed to find the car park we were looking for. In the afternoon I took ...

After a good nights rest I woken up to a breakfast of Granita and Brioche. I believe it has been the staple diet for the whole time I have been in Sicily. The day was enjoyed relaxing by the waters of the Ionian sea and as well the frequent dips. The Mediterranean water are quite warm, but under currents which thrust into the water are freezing. After a while those shots of icy water ...

... gorges and ravine. Alacantara River has its source from the South side of Mount Nebrodi and its mouth in the Ionian Sea at Capo Schiso inn Giardini - Naxos. The River is 52 Kilometres (32 Miles) long. These Basalt cliffs stand at about 66 feet.

Lunch was enjoyed beside the river, watching other many other people enjoying the waters. Given the temperatures of the water, I had decide to sit this one out! Too Cold!

In the late afternoon ...
