... and mostly covered in mist. The GFC or Economic conditions must have hit Italy hard because there were hundreds of single and apartment buildings not completed, hollow or boarded up, very sad. We stopped at a garage and went in with our two heads, as that is what everyone must have been staring at as we walked in, that and our French number plates, anyway got two coffees an Americano, (long black) and a Cappuccino for €1.80 bargain. ... our stroll. There are over 1200 different kinds of plants in the Renaissance garden which is built in terraces. Hands down the most beautiful gardens I’ve ever seen. You’ll have to look at the pictures and judge for yourself!

Tonight is a special 'Be My Guest’ dinner on an island in Lake Maggiore. The restaurant is called The Pirate Cove and is in an 800 year old structure. The restaurant is not usually ...

Finding a hotel that was actually open was becoming the challenge of the day. We went off our intended track ...

... I headed back to our hotel about 5.30 - we had a group goodbye dinner at the restaurant next door. Also need to check my departure time for tomorrow. Sadly packing my suitcase, not really wanting to go home so soon -the week went by so fast!
It was a nice dinner - found a lovely sweet rose wine - we had pasta, followed by chicken & veg then apple pie for dessert. It was sad to say goodbye to some of the people - although I ...

Once again, sitting on the coach - en route to Lake Maggiore; our last stop on this lovely scenic holiday.

Today we head to the small swiss town of Lugano (north Switzerland) - some of our goup are taking a cable car up Monte Tamaro.
We arrive in Lugano shortly after 9.30am. Time for a 2 hour explore before getting the coach to our mountain excursion. Note, a lot of shops did not open until 11am!
      First impressions - very expensive - ...
